“Our Favorite Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

We stayed for the third time at Hotel St. Francis and as always, it met every expectation. Our preference for hotels are Boutique, unique architecture, excellent food, and a great bar. Their service is excellent, which includes every person who works in the hotel from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. The location is ideal if you just want to wander around downtown, but it's pretty tempting to hang out on the front patio or sit in the bar with amazing drinks and bartenders (make sure you get a drink made by Chris). What I also really appreciate is the incredibly soft bedding in the midst of simple, yet elegant decor. The rooms are small if you reserve one of the lower priced rooms, however this is a hotel from the 1800's were they've managed to keep the charm of the time period balanced with modern comfort. We travel to Santa Fe 1-2 times a year and have stayed at many hotels in the area, this is a great choice.

The hotel is in the downtown area of Santa Fe, just a block or two from the Plaza. The lobby and entry areas are beautiful and comfortable. The rooms, and we saw many and stayed in two during our three night stay, are varied in size, location, view and outside noise level. We stayed the first night in a large queen on the third floor, front corner of the hotel. It was very noisy, and we were awakened several times by the constant, often loud traffic in front of the building. We moved the next morning into an interior queen with no view and fewer windows, but we slept well for the next two nights. The moral? Check out the rooms for size, location and noise levels. The staff, especially Josie in the morning, understand the issue and are very helpful. We would go back without question, but would need to be in a room which works for us.

This hotel is located in perfect walking distance to everything downtown. Our family stayed here while in town for a family wedding. The hotel accomodated everything we asked for, as well hosting a high tea for the brides side, and a Sunday brunch for the grooms side. In addition, Ren, who works at the front desk, was more than happy to assist us with any special needs or specific requests that our family had. None of us had ever been to Santa Fe before, and this hotel made our trip even more successful! I would recommend a stay to anyone.

I returned to stay at the Hotel St. Francis after a 20 year hiatus and it was just as I remember...maybe better. It is a reasonably priced stay in the middle of Santa Fe, with parking available, a nice lobby bar and several good restaurants within an easy walking distance. We were planning to stay on lily one night but decided to stay a second night and the manager worked hard to find room for us a second night. Stay here is you want a delightful stay in an classic, perfectly (at least for my wife and myself) remodeled hotel at less than half the price of the signature Santa Fe hotel a block away.

From the time Chris greets you at the door, providing you with every Front Desk (and Bellman) service, you know you've arrived at a magical place! If you need dining tips, directions, or any other assistance, you can count on Ren, Alder,Chris, or Michael to be available to help. The bar is friendly & comfortable, the dining room delivers good food & wonderful service. It's in a perfect location, central but private, intimate. The patios are wonderful! The rooms keep in charater with the landmark hotel it is in decor, providing a wonderful historical essence, but exceed in comfort anything Kit Carson ever experienced! If you're looking for The Four Seasons, stay there. If you're looking for a true Santa Fe experience - stay here!

Room Tip: If you want a larger room, with carpeting, spend the extra $20 for the upgraded rooms. We did and i...

Not only is the St. Francis in Santa Fe a lovely, charming property with a fantastic location, it is also home to the best waiter I've had in a long time - Alejandro is super-attentive, intelligent, gracious, friendly and efficient AND makes a mean cappuccino that I will sorely miss. Ah, and those delightful bed linens - I'll miss those too!

It's not your typical hotel room. The rooms a on the small side and they're not lavishly decorated, but it's sweet, cozy, and homey. The bed and linens were SO comfortable. Very quiet and relaxing. Love the atmosphere (has an older feel. Not super modern). Staff was incredibly friendly. Perfectly located. Will absolutely stay again. I got my room on a last minute deal for $96. Well worth the price.
