“Sybaritic Southwestern”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

Unsure in retrospect if the room was "Superior" or "Deluxe". Any traveler should be suspicious of those kind of adjectives these days; not the case at the Inn of the Anasazi. The room felt +500sq ft. while the balcony brought in the outside without the loss of privacy, Rivolta Carmignani linens underneath traditional Puebloan artistries and a fireplace which mysteriously renders you less alone. Guess what? The staff---everyone---is bright and professional; simply put, they do not intrude on your stay. Exquisite and restful...

We just returned from staying there again. It is one of my favorite hotels! Staff super friendly and professional. And the rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. What I expect from a 5-star hotel...but don't always get. The restaurant is excellent.

We arrived December 6 and stayed for two nights and a delux room with large balacony in the rear of the hotel. It was excpetionally cold (well under freezing), and parts of the hotel, expecially the public areas were cold. Our room finally warmed up after several hours.

The bed was quite excellent, flat screen TV and large open bedroom that was quite nice with a tradiitonal santa fe fireplace in the corner with a gas only fire.

The bathroom was nice, but I had expected more. It had a shower/tub combo which I do not like, no fan and no heater and was rather narrow. Its more than adequate, but at $349 a night (yes a $50 breakfast credit daily), it should have been more luxurious.

The breakfast and dinner we ate in the hotel were quite nice though, just shade under excellent. The common areas of the hotel are to the rear of the lobby and are nice and homey, though, not expecially elegant or well furnished.

Service throughout at check in, check out, maid service, valet parking and porter services were all quite prompt and friendly.

The hotel as a perfect location right in the very heart of the town, so that a car is not needed unless you intend to leave old town santa fe. Another plus for this hotel is that its quite small (58 rooms I think), and never much noise nor too many people in the lobby. My wife and I prefer the smaller and quieter hotels and this Inn fit that need quite well.

All in all, a very excellent stay but its a hotel that is operating at the high point of the price range for the product provided. I would return though, as location and a good bed are top requirements in my book.

Room Tip: back of the hotel for less street noise.

I stayed at the Inn of the Anasazi in March of 2011. In short, my stay was absolutely delightful! The Reservation Agents (Ashley & April) were extremely accommodating and flexible and the customer service was top-notch, attentive, warm and consistent. This was my second visit to Santa Fe, NM and my second stay at this hotel. The décor is refined, traditional Southwestern with well-appointed authentic Native American accents. This place meets the needs of the sophisticated traveler, yet is comfortable, very warm & inviting.

I am extremely particular about cleanliness – always thoroughly checking my hotel room upon check-in; flipping mattresses for sign of bugs, etc. Both times (in October 2010 and March 2011) I found The Inn of the Anasazi to be immaculate!! Whew!! This place is beautiful!! The rooms are average size and a tad on the darker side. However; despite the fact that I am very claustrophobic, I found myself very comfortable in the larger Deluxe Balcony Room (more so than in the standard Superior room).

The location is absolutely ideal. I am not an athletic walker – but this was the perfect spot for many walks around the city – stopping back at the hotel for short breaks and visits to the Concierge Gloria who was awesome!! This hotel is only blocks away from:

The Loretto Chapel
Santa Fe Plaza
San Miguel Mission
Saint Francis Cathedral
Palace of the Governors
The Lensic
Georgia O'Keeffe Museum
Cross of the Martyrs
Old Santa Fe Trail
Canyon Road

Note – this hotel does not offer "rooms with a view" - the trade-off being its central locale. Well-worth it.

The restaurant was incredible and the service first-class.

I will absolutely return to Inn of the Anasazi when I am back in Santa Fe!!

The warmth and charm of the hotel are matched by the warmth and efficiency of the staff. I stayed four days here. Each time I returned from being out I felt like I was coming home. The fireplace in the room and the lights were lit and awaiting me each evening, as well as a little story of Indian origin and a plate of cookies. Downstairs in the library hot cider and cookies were always set out. All the service was very personal; every staff member knew my name from day one. The restaurant was excellent. I loved the Southwestern look, feel and charm, but it also matched the best of international hotel appointments. I will definitely return.

The restaurant is my second favorite restaurant in Santa Fe behind Geronimo and we eat here every time in Santa Fe. We ate here in April and again in June. The food is excellent, the service too and you might even catch a celebrity dining.

Room Tip: Only eat here

Rosewood is a chain of luxury hotels that has a certain panache. Rosewood is synonymous with luxury and 5 star service. Our previous two experiences with other members of the Rosewood chain have been exceptional.

Therefore we were shocked when we checked into our $650 room that looked worth $250 at most. While pleasantly decorated the TV was very old and the picture quality was mediocre, the bathroom did not feature a separate shower / bathtub nor a private wash closet. It was a very ordinary bathroom and nothing about it was luxurious.

The room had a little terrace that looked direclty into the neighboring hotel which is only a few feet away. No privacy.

Room service items ordered at 5 PM prior to housekeeping turn down were not removed at turn down and were still there that evening when we returned from dinner at 11 PM. A small detail but when staying in a Rosewood and paying top dollar for a mediocre room service must be extraordinary to justify the price.

The aircon was not cold enough necessitating leaving the terrace door open all night. The window slider was broken therefore the window would not remain open!

Room was a bit dark.

The good:

The staff are friendly and professional. The dining room is terrific. The location is as good as it gets in the center of Santa Fe.

We had to check out after one miserable night and went to Encantado which was fabulous. The room was dreadful at the Inn of the Anasazi.
