“A Memorable Stay in Santa Fe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

During a recent trip from California to Texas that included a planned stop in Santa Fe, I received the weekly list of "Hot Deals" from BedandBreakfast.com. The list included a "Santa Fe Special" at the Pueblo Bonito Inn for $109.00 per night. Further reseach showed that this Bed and Breakfast was highly rated by TripAdvisor Reviewers and had been voted the 2012 "Guest Favorite B&B in Downtown Santa Fe." Based on this information, I made reservations for my wife and me at the historic Pueblo Bonito Inn.

Upon arriving at the Inn, we were warmly greeted by Strelsa who gave us a brief history of it and even took us to our room. Because of its king-sized bed and close proximity to the lounge area where breakfast and afternoon tea were served, I had reserved the San Felipe Room. In addition its king-sized bed, this spacious room contained a loveseat, a corner kiva fireplace, a refrigerator, WiFi connections, and a large bathroom. Most importantly, the room provided us with a comfortable night's sleep in pleasant surroundings during a very cold and windy night in Santa Fe.

In the morning, Strelsa was back on duty managing a deluxe breakfast buffet that included a variety of delicious breakfast items and featured locally prepared tamales. The buffet also had a nice selection of "Breakfast Beverages," including a variety of gourmet coffees and teas personally served by Strelsa.

Other advantages of the Pueblo Bonito Inn are its great location and free parking. Its proximity to many of the sites of downtown Santa Fe allows visitors to avoid the hassle and expense of having to find a parking place. Even on a cold evening, we found a walk to the La Fonda for dinner to be a pleasant, interesting, and enjoyable outing.

For our $109.00 stay, we received a large, very clean room with many "extras," a gourmet buffet breakfast, personalized service from Strelsa, and had a "base of operations" that was within walking distance of all the sites we wanted to see in Santa Fe. The next time we visit Santa Fe, we will return to the Pueblo Bonito Inn and highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to all TripAdvisor Travelers seeking quality accomodations at a reasonable rate in downtown Santa Fe.

Thank you for your review and the time it took to share your experience of our inn, our staff, our city and all the offerings you enjoyed! I'm glad your fellow TripAdvisor users and BedandBreakfast.com reviewers didn't steer you wrong. And it's even more heartwarming to know that you are now among those who recommend us.

There's certainly a lot of history at Pueblo Bonito Inn--the property has actually been here for over 150 years. The San Felipe Room is a great choice. They San Felipe pueblo is one of the most picturesque of any locales, and it's absolutely reflected. As you saw, the kiva fireplace adds warmth to an already cozy room, with a full kitchen, bathroom with all the amenities, and artifacts and comfy furniture all help to make your stay a relaxing one.

In addition to those tasty tamales (a traditional New Mexico treat), your complimentary breakfast includes freshly cut fruits, oatmeal, granola, boiled eggs, lowfat yogurts, pastries, coffee cake, baked breads, bagels, french toast, waffles, raspberry preserves, smears, fresh coffee, tea and juice. And if you're not craving the teas in the morning, we also offer an afternoon tea time. It's a great way for travelers like yourself to unwind and chat about the day's adventures!

As you noted, another benefit of Pueblo Bonito Inn is our proximity to the heart of Santa Fe. Leave your car here with your free parking and make the short walk to the Plaza, Canyon Road, or any number of shops, restaurants and museums. I'm so happy you got to experience La Fonda! It's so wonderful.

If you ever need any suggestions, we're here to help. We sincerely care about our guests on all levels, so please don't hesitate to ask for a recommendation or anything else. I'll make sure Strelsa reads this, as well. She works very hard to make all of our guests' stays as pleasant as possible, and I'm thrilled she contributed to your memorable visit!

Thanks again for taking the time to leave a thorough and detailed review. It's very helpful to your fellow travelers, and us as owners. See you on your next visit to Santa Fe, which is hopefully sooner rather than later!

Sincerely,
Amy Behm

My boyfriend and I loved our stay at the Pueblo Bonito Bed and Breakfast! It is literally within walking distance of everything, the plaza, Canyon Road, restaurants, and the train stop. We are from Albuquerque and it's a great deal to ride the train up and stay for a night. They have cozy cute rooms with fire places and the breakfast is fantastic! It was a very comfortable and unique way to relax in Santa Fe. I definitely recommend it!

Such a lovely review, Missy! Thanks very much for staying with us. I'm thrilled you and your boyfriend had a wonderful time- huge compliment from a local New Mexican! Whether you're coming from Albuquerque or halfway around the world, we'll do whatever we can to make your stay a great one. It doesn't hurt that all of our rooms have the necessary amenities and kiva fireplaces to relax alongside. And our complimentary breakfast is the perfect jump start to a busy day of exploring- so glad you loved it!

As you saw, we're just a short walk away from the best Santa Fe has to offer. No need to drive anywhere. Hopefully you were able to check everything off your list!

It's so flattering to read kind words like this. Not only is it helpful to us as owners, but your fellow travelers will surely appreciate it, too. Hope to host you again the next time you're in town!

Sincerely,

Had a great time. The accomodations were first class. Owners onsite to tend to all needs. Close to Plaza. The breakfast had homemade tomales that were awesome. Rooms were clean and we really appreciated the refirgerator in the room.

Thank you so much for spending your Spring Break with us. I'm glad we helped make it a "first class" visit! Herb and I are always at the inn (with a rare occasion of taking a short power break for our selves) ready to serve guests and make life long friends! We're very close to the Plaza as well as shops, museums, and historic attractions as our location is quietly tucked away in downtown! It's easy to explore everything on your list without having to hassel with parking or walk far.

Of course, keeping our rooms in tip-top shape is a priority for us. Most recently we've mosaic tiled several of the rooms tubs- they're adorable! The refrigerator, microwave and coffee set ups in each guest room does provide convenience and we're glad you appreciated them.

Glad you felt the breakfast tamales to be "awesome"- they literally are the best breakfast tamales in the state of New Mexico! Our guests love them so much, it's common place for them to take a dozen or two frozen home with them!

I truly appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. Thanks very much for the kind words. If you're ever back in Santa Fe, we'd love to see you again!

Sincerely,
Amy Behm

My daughter and I really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Pueblo Bonita. We didn't drive our car at all; everything is within walking distance. The breakfast is simple and good. The tamales are great. The hosts are helpful. The room is not fancy, but has everything you need. The fireplace is fun to have. I recommend staying here.

Thank you very much for the review and recommendation! It certainly helps with exploring Santa Fe to be "in" all the activity and close to all the sights, etc. As you mentioned, we're just a short walk from the Plaza, Canyon Road, museums, restaurants, and shops. And the perfect way to get ready for day out on the town? With a complimentary breakfast! Our tamales, pastries, fresh fruit and so much more will help you attack the day with gusto.

Our rooms are all unique and modeled after various tribes of the southwest. You'll find a kiva fireplace to keep you warm if it gets chilly during the night, and the furniture and artifacts exude a distinct charm. Our foot-thick adobe walls, original wood work, and other authentic historic preservation features create a traditional and one-of-a-kind truly Santa Fe lodging experience for those interested in this type of travel. If you're looking for authentic- look no farther! If you're looking for brand new hotel type amenities (i.e room service, swimming pool, exercise room, etc) we probably aren't what you're looking for. All our rooms however do have flat screen cable tv, air conditioners, refrigerators, microwaves, private baths and lots of historic southwest charm!

I'm really happy you and your daughter enjoyed your stay. We'd love to see you again on your next visit to Santa Fe!

Sincerely,
Amy Behm

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Santa Fe largely due to the perfect proximity of Pueblo Bonito to the happenings in Santa Fe. Both Amy and Herb, the hosts, were a wealth of information orienting us to the sites, restaurants and activities that Santa Fe has to offer. Since our stay was limited to only one night, we felt that they guided us perfectly for us to get the most out of Santa Fe. Our room looked just like the picture and perfect for us with the kiva fireplace and warm ambiance. We were surprised by the generous breakfast as well as the afternoon tea and cookies. We also found that, at least during our particular stay, Pueblo Bonito attracted interesting visitors from many areas and because of the friendly atmosphere provided in the common area, we were able to make some new friends as well.

Bonnie and Isaac,

Thank you so much for visiting and leaving a wonderful review! Even if only for an evening, I'm glad we could have you and help you explore some of the sights of Santa Fe. It certainly helps that we're just a quick walk away from the heart of the city! And we're always happy to to provide assistance in terms of recommendations.

You'll be ready to go after our filling breakfast: with tamales, freshly cut fruits, oatmeal, granola, boiled eggs, lowfat yogurts, pastries, coffee cake, baked breads, bagels, french toast, waffles, raspberry preserves, smears, fresh coffee, tea and juice, you'll be hard-pressed not to find something you love.

We do have a wide variety of wonderful visitors like yourself. People with a real sense of exploration, and an appreciation for culture and history, which we provide in spades (as you saw with your room's kiva fireplace and charming artifacts). I just love seeing our guests bond over complimentary afternoon tea.

Thank you again for such a flattering review. It's an honor to be called perfect, and I'm thrilled you had a great stay with us. Hope to see you again on your next trip to Santa Fe!

Best,
Amy

This little jewel offers privacy and unexcelled hospitality in a location that can't be beat if you want to stroll through Santa Fe. The sumptuous breakfast buffet does include tamales, which you must try! We did not even like tamales until we tried these, they are smaller and lighter than others. The hosts are locals that have run this business for 30-plus years and they are a wealth of information about what to see and do about town. We loved having a fireplace in our spacious room, the kiva was cozy and easy to use and cleaned each day. We certainly hope to stay here again when we return to the area. We usually prefer staying in larger hotels, rather than B&B inns, but Amy and Herb offer a perfect alternative - not rooms in a house, but lovely, generously sized accommodations with all the usual amenities plus an historic ambience.

Wow, Barbara, what a review! Thanks so much for staying with us and sharing your experience. It's an honor that we could change your mind about tamales! They sure are delicious, huh?

As you mentioned, Herb and I have been here for a long time, and we've seen quite a bit of our fair city. It's a beautiful one, and we're always happy to share our recommendations and suggestions on sights to see. We're on-site, so you can always feel free to ask us. The best part? You can see just about anything you desire--we're only a short walk away from downtown Santa Fe. The Plaza, shops, museums and restaurants are only a few minutes from here.

When you factor in our free parking, complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea, and proximity to so many attractions, Pueblo Bonito Inn is the best deal in town. We want your stay to be comfortable, too, so our charming rooms are full of cultural artifacts and wonderful furnishings, like the kiva fireplace you enjoyed. And you'll have all the amenities you desire to stay relaxed and comfy.

Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review. I truly appreciate it, and we'd love to see you again when you're next in Santa Fe!

Sincerely,
Amy

We chose Pueblo Bonito as our last night of a week long stay in New Mexico and booked by phone after reviewing the site online. Arriving at 6PM, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who promptly identified with our New England roots and led us to a cheery room, redolent of mid 20th century design that had been tastefully updated, with a large closet, charming kitchenette, kiva, and comfortable bed. We were able to walk to a delicious dinner just across the street, and enjoyed a hearty breakfast, rich with New Mexican treats such as tamales, heavenly Danish, as well as standard buffet offerings of excellent quality. Our hostess was friendly and informative and we left content with our stay. Luckily, the airline chose to give us one more night, but we couldn't return to P.B. on the voucher. Hoping that there will be a "next time" visit to Santa Fe and Pueblo Bonito will still be available.

Thanks very much for spending time with us while in Santa Fe, Gail! It's too bad that voucher had to be used in Albuquerque and not in Santa Fe as we'd have loved to enjoy you folks for another evening! I'm thrilled you had such an enjoyable stay with us. With our foot thick adobe walls and charming furnishings, like our kiva fireplace and carefully crafted tables, you really get a feel for the culture and history of this 400+ year old city.

As you saw, we're just a short walk away from delectable restaurants, shopping, and wonderful Santa Fe attractions. And of course, we'll prepare you for the day ahead with a filling breakfast, complete with our popular breakfast tamales, freshly cut fruits, oatmeal, granola, boiled eggs, lowfat yogurts, pastries, coffee cake, baked breads, bagels, french toast, waffles, raspberry preserves, smears, fresh coffee, tea and juice. It's the perfect start to the day!

We'd love to host you again next time! We'll still be here, ready to offer another comfortable, relaxing stay.
