I would really put this at about a 3.5 if I could. The rooms were beautiful-- clean, nice beds, but, that's about it. Be prepared for NO CELL PHONE SERVICE. Casino was very small but had good promotions. Nice pool area. When we stayed they had a very nice (expensive) restaurant open and a very cheap one-- was very disappointed that the middle-of-the-road option was not available on Monday night so we had to eat somewhere else outside of the hotel.

The hotel is very nice. Well maintained. Southwest and Native American decor and artwork. Spacious rooms, many with balconies. Really nice bathrooms. Excellent workout room and indoor and outdoor pools. The hotel restaraunts are horrible. The food is obvious pre-prepared and fresh from the freezer. Watch for hidden fees. Buy snacks and alcohol elsewhere as the bar prices are expensive and the store has 200 to 400% mark ups. The casino smoke in the elevator often reeks.

Our tour operator put us in here on a trip to Santa Fe so although the hotel has numerous facilities and the staff were wonderful, it was a long trip by car back into town and out. Fine if all you want to do is use the casino or golf course though. The Red Sage Restaurant was very good and we enjoyed the two evening meals we had there. The buffet was closed in the first part of the week so don't rely on that being open away from weekends. The hotel is large and if you have mobility problems you might find it difficult so make sure you ask for a room close to where you need to be. The room was very clean, well-decorated and furnished. The fridge is too small and so full there was no space for anything we might want to put in there. I still object to Hilton charging for wifi when so many other hotels offer this for free.

Did not honor the late check out time stated on the website. Late Check out was one of the reasons I picked this resort. Resort is beautiful and room was very nice. Very nice setting and very clean. Casino is clean and having live bands is fun.

Very nice hotel. Had rain in September and the ceiling in our room leaked so they moved us to a suite. Suite had a balcony and overlooked the golf course. Nice shops in the hotel. Quick bell hop service and friendly staff at the front desk. Ate at the buffet and it was excellent. Casino was okay.

We stayed at Buffalo Thunder one night and check-in went smoothly. I had reserved the room with my credit card, and this was the only use of my card at the hotel.
The room was nicely decorated. The minifridge was stuffed with drinks to buy and there was no space for us to put even a small item there. The first floor hallway smelled of chlorine from the indoor pool, as did the gym, and the casino smelled of smoke.
But the real issue arose after I arrived home and discovered my credit card had a $50 preauthorization charge from Buffalo Thunder one day after we had left the hotel and New Mexico.
I called Dawn Osborn the operations manager, who said the item should disappear from my card in a few days. She had no explanation for the preauthorization. She said she would be my point person to resolve this problem. A week passed and the preauthorization was still sitting on my card. I called and left a message for Ms. Osborn asking to have the item removed. Another week passed and I called Ms. Osborn and she said to get the credit card company to take it off. When I indicated that the card company said the hotel needs to remove it, she said, "Since we don't know what your bank told you, we can't do anything." She then sent me to voicemail for their finance department. She was no longer my point person.
I found her attitude very unsympathetic and she seemed unconcerned about the possibility of a problem on Buffalo Thunder's end involving an improper credit card authorization. I am still trying to resolve this problem as I write.
Be advised: Check your card statement after you get home. Good luck resolving any issue. I won't return to this hotel.

Room Tip: find your room before deciding where to park
