“over night stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2014

We reserved a pull-thru spot for a quick overnight stop on our way from Phoenix to Denver. The place was easy to find and the staff was very friendly. It is a nice, well kept place, the area we had was clean and level, the picnic table was fairly new and in good shape, rest rooms were clean. We arrived late and got set up and then enjoyed doing a puzzle in the club house while we watched a movie. Overall, the price was about the same as any of the other nearby places but we were very satisfied with our stay. There is a gas station nearby that can accommodate a big rig so that was nice too.

We loved Rancheros. We didn't want to leave. We tent camped for three days there and we enjoyed our time at the campground. All staff were very nice and helpful. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the temperature of the pool . It's beyond freezing. If you want to avoid foot traffic and such, ask for a site away from the group sites. The Trail in the park is short and nice. They show a movie every night as well. Great location to do all your Santa Fe, Taos and Northern New Mexico adventures.

I really wanted to give Rancheros de Santa Fe Campgrounds 5 stars because the people here are so friendly. I think if you were pulling a smaller type camper be it shorter 5th wheel, bumper pull or tent camping this is the place is great. Bring blocks to level up if you do because not all sites are level. I shoehorned out 40' motorhome in our spot. Everything is so close around these pull throughout there is really much of a place to wet up chairs. The dog run is a joke although we have found that in the last two campgrounds in New Mexico due to the landscapes. If they would demo out a few area sites they could make room for some nice pull throughs. There are other options here in Santa Fe so we may look elsewhere next year.

Unfortunately our site bordered a group of drunk tent and RV campers. Close to midnight, with earplugs, it was difficult to get to sleep. There were a number of available sites that were not right next to other campers. Additionally, to get to the hookups (at least ours) you had to make a hairpin turn. If you have a dog, be prepared to pick stickers out of their paws. The staff were very nice, but this was probably our worst experience in the past year.

We stay here every year on our way to Colorado. The staff is super helpful and the restrooms are kept clean despite heavy use.
The roads are narrow and twisty and several of the sites are extremely steep. We needed 4 wheel drive to back in after coming home from dinner.
Will stay again with a pop up, but once we move up to a larger fifth wheel not sure we will be comfortable.

This RV park is an old KOA. The roads are twisty and narrow for big motorhomes. They have only about 8 pull through sites with full hookups but getting to the sites requires skillful manuvering to keep from scraping the motorhome on the overgrowth. Check in was a joke as we had reservations but they could not find them, even with the confirmation number. We finally were able to get site 122, which might be the best spot in the whole park. Getting to site 122 was a slow trip to ensure the paint job would not be trashed on the juniper overgrowth.

We cannot recommend this place for big rigs.

Room Tip: Pull through site are just off the road, so the traffic noise is a bit annoying. Sites are pea grav...
