“Hotel Chimayo is a good choice for a hotel in Santa Fe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

Hotel Chimayo is located close to the Plaza in Santa Fe so it is right where you want to be. They now have a restaurant in the hotel. We had dinner there several nights and it was very nice. The waiter knew the town well and answered our many questions on where to go. I liked the parking on site as well.

Room Tip: Ask for assistance with your bags if the room has an internal stairway.

We visit Santa Fe often and love the location in the center of it all. We love the fireplaces in the room. Wifi worked perfectly. The staff was very helpful. Even going out of their way to start a fire after hours. David in maintenance was a pleasure. The lack of coffee in the lobby in he morning seems a bit silly. It is a basic expectation when traveling today. The beds were very comfortable. The heating and cooling system in the rooms is difficult to control, could not get it to cool. We will return.

Steps from the Plaza and surrounding sites. Management and staff take great pride in the property and it shows. Lobby decorated by Chimayo craftsman, from the rugs to the fireplace tiles. Friendly, helpful staff at front desk. Rooms carry Chimayo theme from lobby. Beds are fantastic, pillows plentiful, some suites have fireplaces, perfect after a fall day exploring Santa Fe. Management gives percentage of profits to ensure Chimayo artistry continues for future generations so not only do you get a great stay, you help
preserve the culture you came to see.

Room Tip: Higher up rooms have beautiful mountain views.

Hello NYCHotelManager,

We take pride in the service our staff provide as well as in the hotel's aesthetic and comfort, so thank you for letting us know that we hit the mark on all three.

And, we feel lucky to be located in such a great part of town!

I hope you had a wonderful time in Santa Fe. We'd love for you to stay with us again on your next trip.

Excellent hotel. Also very quiet and comfortable, and right on the Plaza. Hotel employees were also very nice and very helpful. The bar and restaurant were also excellent. The prices were also reasonable for the room, restaurant and bar.

For a base to walk your way through Santa Fe's Plaza shops the location is very good. Upon check in we were the practice guests for a trainee who could not tell us where our room was located within the complex. Also,on the not so great side, a guest should not expect linens with rips and holes in them nor should they need to ask for a remote, only to find that the replacement didn't work either. On the upside, the bath products are a nice line of Gilchrist & Soames,

Perfect location, poetic layout, access to rooms in garden. The average rating is because I got woken up twice by the fire alarm which goes off whenever any smoke detector smells anything - completely unnecessary in view of the easy escape from most rooms including mine. I also happen to know that the alarm was not caused by smoke but by steam from the bathtub coming into the room. I needed my sleep badly, and I DO NOT WANT TO BE WOKEN UP BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE TAKES A BATH SOMEWHERE!!!!!

It is always good to have a plan for the first night in a new place - especially a place to stay. My sister recommended the Hotel Chimayo, saying that it was right in the center of Santa Fe and not as pricy as the more luxurious hotels. Well, it was right in the center of Santa Fe, but it was still pretty pricy according to our standards. But we loved it. And after a day of traveling, it was very nice to have a place waiting for us.

Dear shoofoolatte,

The staff here at the Hotel Chimayo want to thank you for your kind words. We are glad that you enjoyed your visit to Santa Fe. Your sister is right, our rooms are less expensive than most of the other hotels in the downtown area and our rooms are bigger. We also offer plenty of deals like our 3rd night free, AAA and AARP, New Mexico locals, and last minute specials. Always feel free to contact us to see what deals we have available. Again, thank you for your kind words and we hope to welcome you back to Santa Fe on your next visit.
