We booked the Inn on the Alameda for a short vacation to Santa Fe. We are from the East Coast and not familiar with Santa Fe. On the basis of reviews we had read beforehand, we expected a nice place. We were very pleasantly surprised by the exceptional quality of the place. Service was everywhere friendly. The layout, with multiple buildings and connecting outdoor garden passageways was reminiscent of hotels in Spain instead of a typical US hotel. The rooms and bath were exceptionally well-appointed and comfortable. The afternoon wine and cheese, while not uncommon for a hotel of this type, was welcome and quite enjoyable. The on-site lite-fare restaurant, which we tried the first night, was excellent and quite welcome. We had plenty to eat. The weather was just right for a table in the lit outside garden, private and relaxing. The breakfast was also excellent. It is only a short 2-block walk to the cathedral and another block to the plaza area, so the location was perfect. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall exceptional quality of our stay--it was better than expected--and we would pick the same hotel again if we are back in Santa Fe.
