“Santa Fe experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2008

The Inn on the Alameda was everything that others have said about it. The breakfast was wonderful from fresh fruit to two types of frittatas. The afternoon wine and cheese hour is something you don't want to miss. Be sure to have a glass or two of Charlie's sangria.

The inn is well run with an excellent staff. When asked for opinions or directions, the staff had the right answers. An example was when asked for a middle priced place for our first dinner, the staff suggested the San Francisco Grill just off the plaza on San Francisco. The food was very good, the table looked out the front windows, and the cost was indeed reseasonable.

Other places we ate for fine dining were the Vanessie and the La Casa Sena. The Casa Sena also has a cantina for after dinner drink and where the wait staff sings songs from all the broadway musicals.

The Shed served up a great lunch, twice, for a good price.

The highlight of our trip was our hot air balloon ride with Santa Fe Balloons. Our pilot, Johnny Lewis, provided us with a flight that we will never forget. We drifted along from canyons to ridges to canyons. Sometimes just skimming the tree tops. He is quite a pilot and you will learn a lot about ballooning from him. He is not going to take you up to 1000 feet and drift along for 20 minutes and set you down in a parking lot. I highly recommend Santa Fe Balloons.

Our return to the Inn was no less satisfying than was our first visit eight years ago. The staff was attentive without being intrusive. Everyone was helpful, courteous and professional. We reserved a two room suite (casita) and it exceeded our expectations. A private outdoor courtyard off the bedroom was nicely complimented by the table and chairs just outside the front door. The sitting room was large and well appointed with a kiva fireplace, a second television and a DVD player as well. There is a mini fridge and wet bar that are just right for storing snacks and serving wine.

The rooms were clean and the housekeeping staff made sure they stayed that way during our week there. There was even a nice stack of seasoned firewood right outside the front door, which we were sure to use in the fireplace. Off street parking is especially convenient for those staying in the suite casitas.

Daily complimentary breakfasts were more than adequate, although after a week, a little more variety might have been appreciated. Weather permitting, we recommend eating breakfast in the courtyard off the lobby. Get there early because folks get really comfortable and tend to linger under the shade trees. The complimentary afternoon wine and cheese session is a perfect way to wind down after a day of walking or gallery hopping. Be sure to try Charlie’s Sangria. His secret ingredient makes it all the more special.

The Inn may not be the biggest or newest hotel in Santa Fe, but it certainly is the friendliest. We look forward to returning – soon!

This Inn is located one block from Canyon Road ( with dozens of art galleries) and 5 minutes from the Plaza which is the center of Santa Fe. We had a deluxe room which was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and were eager to recommend restaurants for supper. A continental breakfast and a wine /cheese buffet were included in the rate.

I stayed at this property for one night shortly before Christmas and I must say that it lived up to its high reputation on trip advisor. I am originally from Santa Fe and I wanted to propose to my girlfriend (also from Santa Fe) in our hometown over the Christmas holiday (she said yes!). For those of you who aren't aware, the plaza and Canyon Road in Santa Fe are two of the most romantic spots around during the holiday season! The Inn on the Alameda is perfectly situated between these two areas.

The rooms at the Inn are very nice, with kiva fireplaces and soft, comfortable beds. Our room had a patio but we didn't use it due to the weather. Upon checking in we were greeted with a wine and cheese social hour (included with the room) then we were off to dinner at the Santacafe. Since there was some snow on the ground, we took the hotel shuttle which was an added convenience. I had requested champagne be put in the room while we were away at dinner, and it was waiting for us when we returned. The next morning, a nice breakfast was available which was also included in the rate.

Overall, the Inn on the Alameda is everything a tourist could want, location, service, and Santa Fe charm. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a smaller establishment close to the plaza with exceptional service and rooms!

The staff was especially friendly and helpful! When I broke my ankle three days before the trip, they accomodated my request for a ground floor unit without blinking. When the City of Santa Fe notified them of a sudden water cut-off for repairs three days before our arrival, the Inn called us at home to tell us and inquire if this was an issue: honesty and attention to detail that are very rare in the hotel biz! The room was great: comfortable bed, big bath room, fireplace and Very Clean. And the BEST complimentary breakfast ever. The Inn has our highest recommendation.

We arived on a Friday and left Sunday morning. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast is wonderful with hot food which lasts unil 11:00 AM. The wine and cheese in the late afternoon was a wonderful touch that made us feel pampered. The location of the hotel is perfect and everything in the Plaza area is within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The room was also pleasantly decorated and very comfortable.
We will be back.

I first stayed at Inn on the Alameda with my husband 6 years ago.
This time, I was with a couple of girlfriends for a long weekend.
Our two standard rooms were ample sized, nicely furnished in Southwestern colors, with lovely bathrooms, balconies, large closets, bathrobes and flat screen tv's. Housekeeping provided fresh towels and toiletries once daily.

The Inn's amenities include free parking, a wonderful buffet breakfast, afternoon wine and cheese, and courtesy van transport to galleries, shops, restaurants, museums. We did not take advantage of the jacuzzi or fitness room.

We spent time each evening before the roaring fire in the cozy lobby, with its comfortable couches, rocking chairs, tables for cards and games, and book lined shelves.

Staff is genuinely warm and accommodating, intent on providing a positive experience for each guest.

The Inn is well located - a short block to the art galleries and restaurants of Canyon Road, and 10 minutes (or less) from
the Plaza.

Inn on the Alameda is an intimate oasis in charming Santa Fe.
I would highly recommend a stay here.
