“Pleasant Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Hotel Santa Fe is one of our favorite hotels in Santa Fe and we stay there once or twice a year. Their employees are very customer service oriented, always accommodating and helpful in finding good restaurants and sights to see. The hotel is clean, has nice linens, a pleasant decor as well as complimentary coffee service in the mornings and complimentary shuttle service around the Plaza. I highly recommend this hotel the next time you are in Santa Fe.

I was particularly won over by the coffee and assorted newspapers available in the lobby. The property is a moderate walk to the city center, but flat and manageable. The front desk staff and the bar tenders in the lobby were first rate. Spa fees kept this rating at the very good level. Aside from an outdoor pool, I wasn't aware there were spa facilities.

Room Tip: Ask for the ground floor, really not a noisy neighborhood (in November)

We got a good price on Hotels.com. The walk to the place is just long enough that you might want to pay $12 for a cab and use the complementatry taxi service from the hotel. We used that a couple of times and LOVED it. Get a room on the top floor, only 3 stories, so that you don't get your sleep interruped by families who enjoy being up late...wish I had asked for 3rd floor versus 2nd floor. Hotel very clean. Ask for a room with a balcony. It was nice to be able to sit ouside, even if it was only for a few minutes - the fresh air was very pleasant. Property clean and staff very attentive.

My wife and I love this hotel, so I'm extremely unhappy to write this review. This is a great place - despite its faults - with a staff of very nice people, and we'll probably stay at this hotel again.
However, nothing is more maddening than having my intelligence insulted, as the hotel's deceptive pricing does. The room rate (without taxes) was listed as $119, but when making the reservation a $19 "fee" was added for "amenities, resources and transportation". Calling this a fee is MBA flim-flam and an outright lie - this is simply an addition to the room rate of $19 for services which the hotel always offered in the past. Moreover, you MUST pay this "fee" or you don't stay in the hotel - so calling it a fee is nonsense.
Note that I have no problem paying $138 ($119 + $19) per night for a room in this hotel, I just don't appreciate being lied to.
One major annoyance: WIFI is terrible at this hotel: it simply did not work with my Android tablet for more than one or two minutes. My first complaint to the front desk was met with a "yes, we know", my second complaint was met with "we'll check it ", and my third and final complaint was met with "we checked, the problem's with your device". This is not true - my tablet had worked at six different hotels in the three weeks before staying at this hotel, and worked with my in-home router when I returned home.
Other rather minor annoyances were that the free toiletries came in bottles that were nearly impossible to get anything out of, the grab bar in the bath (room 124) rattled around in its anchors (not yet a safety problem, but could become one), and the toilet flapper valve needed replacement (necessary to hold flush handle down to get good flush). Also, the one night when there was no light at the outdoor hot tub, management should have taped a sign to the door leading to the hot tub advising guests to get flashlights from the front desk (the front desk DID provide flashlights when asked).
Again, I hate to see this hotel engage in the latest, trendy false advertising - in many ways, this is a great place to stay. The ambience of the hotel is wonderful, the staff tries hard to be helpful, the shuttle service is a plus, the bathrooms are well designed and well-lit, beds are fine, the restaurant is exceptional, the location's quite good and the hot tub's a big plus (in a pretty location, and we enjoyed it this stay as well as a number of others in the past).

We spent the weekend at the Hotel Santa and found the accommodations spectacular. In addition to its great location, just blocks from the Plaza, the room was gorgeous and the staff was friendly and helpful. They had a fantastic happy hour and the shuttle service took us wherever we wanted to go. Our driver, Tom, was the most friendly and delightful part of our stay. We will definitely return!

Location was perfect for us and the shuttle they offer is so cool, an awesome service you should definitely use! Staff, all very professional and helpful. Can't go wrong staying here. But I did read the last review about the towels and I have to agree but certainly not a deal breaker.

We had so many mixed thoughts about the Hotel Santa Fe.
First, the good. The hotel shuttle is fantastic! Whenever we wanted to go somewhere within a few miles of the hotel (or be picked up), a driver was available in 5-10 minutes. The purple London cab is such fun and for larger groups they have a shuttle.
We also enjoyed the breakfast and the holiday decorations. As well, the concierge was not only helpful but very friendly and a great ambassador for the hotel.
Now, the not so good. Our room was dated and the furniture quality not very good. Moreover, the bathroom design was very poor. When someone came out of the shower/toilet area, the person standing in front of the sink and mirror had to leave the room entirely. As well, the towels and the toilet paper were very thin and rough.
If you are staying here solely for location to the plaza area, Hotel Santa Fe is a good choice If you are looking for an upscale hotel, you may want to choose another or stay in their more expensive Hacienda wing.

Room Tip: Rooms outdated in main hotel. Stay in hacienda
