“A Good Reason To Visit Santa Fe, New Mexico”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

Thursday, June 05, 2014

Mr. Paul Margetson
General Manager
Hotel Santa Fe & Hacienda
1501 Paseo de Peralta
Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501

Your hotel is one of the main reasons we travel to Santa Fe. Sure, Santa Fe is a mecca for southwestern jewelry and bargains on all sorts of stuff. We love the history and the many interesting sights and structures. We keep coming back to Hotel Santa Fe & Hacienda because of the warmth and service of the people.

We particularly enjoy the comfort and quiet of the Hacienda. The rooms are spacious and very well maintained. We feel welcomed by the staff and the beautiful surroundings. Please convey our special thanks to Lupo, Robert, Javier, Richard, Sarah, Shawna and Maritza for making our stay so comfortable. Please tell Herman we especially enjoyed his warm greeting and friendly manner.

It was our pleasure to be among the very first guests on opening night for the indoor/outdoor area of Amaya restaurant. The area provides a scenic addition to your dining facilities. The food is always delicious at the Amaya. This trip, we enjoyed the salmon. What a feast.

Of course, the hospitality room in the Hacienda is always a restful place after a long day of driving or a hard day of shopping or sightseeing. The wine and snacks are a big plus. Service is terrific…attentive and friendly. We can always count on excellent recommendations from the “butlers” for sightseeing or dining if we want to venture out for the evening.

As always, we look forward to our next visit to the Hotel Santa Fe & Hacienda.

Sincerely,

Sue & Joe Fleming

Room Tip: The Hacienda is our favorite. It's a bit more upscale than the hotel, but both are great.

Green Features: Owned by Native Americans, the facility is extremely environmentally friendly.

We stayed in a suite at the Hacienda which was spacious and well appointed. Service was great and there was a nice outdoor balcony. The breakfast and happy hour in the hacienda were very well done with great service and a very pleasant space. This is well above the usual standard for hotel clubs.
The decor was very well done with a lot of modern Native American art throughout.

Room Tip: Stay in the hacienda if you can afford it

My friend and I were looking for a way to start our recent retirement. We spent three nights at the Hotel Santa Fe and were so pleased with our online booking. We had a junior suite which was perfect for us. The staff could not have been more friendly. Everyone from the front desk staff, to housekeeping, concierge, restaurant wait staff, shuttle drivers, and spa employees were so incredibly friendly and helpful. We enjoyed having the shuttle rides available, like having a private driver at our beck and call. The recommendations of restaurants and reservations made were on target. The spa experience was wonderful. Coffee in the morning on each floor was much appreciated. Food in the restaurant was excellent. We will be back!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony overlooking an area that does look out to the rooftop. Third floor wa...

Attractive and Comfortable hotel in an area close to shops and restaurants near the Railyard. Rooms a bit small and as I had a suite it too was tight, with a tiny balcony. The bathroom fixtures need some work as my bath/shower drain selector was not working. Paint peeling on outside doors to patio. I highly recommend the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Very delicious food with a surprisingly creative menu and excellent service. Early coffee available at 7am on each floor-wished it was at 6 as breakfast is served at 7. Flavored water available all day in Lobby.
Did not note any employees offering to help with carting suitcases to or from room. Noisy in hallways from cleaning people and guests slamming doors at an early hour.

Room Tip: Room facing the pool area can be noisy with children swimming below.

Thank you for spending a week with us and I am sorry to learn that your bath/shower selector was not working property and hopefully you brought it to our attention and it was fixed!!

We are continuing to replace all our wood framed guestroom outside doors with new clad ones and I apologize for any inconvenience you were caused.

I am so glad to learn you enjoyed our restaurant, Amaya, and again, thank you for staying with us.

Staff was professional and helpful with all our needs. The hotel itself was quiet and has a very relaxing atmosphere in restaurant and lounge. On Friday and Saturday nights they have authentic native american music in the lounge. Loved the jalapenos margaritas at the bar. We did make use of the shuttles to downtown on a daily basis and we were told in advance there was a daily fee listed as a tax for this service. Shuttles were very prompt for us. Our room was clean and comfortable, but could have been larger. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from kitchen on bottom floor.

Green Features: Hotel politely reminds you to conserve water by washing only towels, washcloths you leave on the floor. Shower appears to be a water conserving shower head.

We booked and paid for our "Discounted" supposedly to $140 a night paid in advance. In the morning there is a receipt under the door for $20. For a service fee. It is a standard charge we are told for services the hotel offers. Like the "Free" WIFI that did not work so we couldn't use it. The "Free" Purple Cars we didn't use because there was only one driver and we would have to wait too long. The room was really small. We both need CPAP. There were no plugs near the bed at all.The desk was the only surface to set things on or use but it was full of a big basket of not food sugary items and water they wanted you to buy and the ice bucket. Finally the bed and pillows were uncomfortable. So I used my phone not their WiFI(not!) To find another hotel

This hotel looked so good on-line --- and the common areas and staff and restaurant are wonderful and first-class! They are trying to create an upscale atmosphere -- and it works.
Sadly, however, the rooms, are sub-standard. We booked a suite in the hotel; were told that if we wanted to stay in the Hacienda, we would get a "butler" -- did not need one.
The suites are small, compared to most hotels. We were put in a noisy one (hard to find a quiet one in this hotel) -- but ended up moving to another room because there was a cigarette butt, visible, on the floor. Quite an "ick" factor. They were very good about moving us -- but first showed us to a room where the windows couldn't be opened due to an accumulation of bugs, dirt and spider webs! The hotel's air-conditioning unit was right at the bedroom window! Finally got to a room we could sleep in -- however, all three rooms had old, frayed, dirty
furniture (except for the bed, which was quite comfortable); lamps were broken in each room, and the head of housekeeping had to check each room to ensure that it was actually cleaned well. Repairs to walls, ceilings, etc -- sloppy, poor workmanship, all apparently done "on the cheap".
Rooms are not cheap here -- and there are other, better quality looking hotels in town.
Location: perfect for us...easy walking distance to the old town and general sites.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room -- and not on the first floor. Rooms at the front of the hotel are on a main d...

I am sorry to learn that you were so unhappy with us from the moment you arrived which you made clear to our Front Desk staff - also on our comment cards - and now with tripadvisor.com??!!

It is difficult to fathom why you continued to stay with us for several nights. We are certainly not perfect and if one wants to find fault it can certainly be accomplished!

I am sorry we let you down, but wish you happy travels, wherever they may be.
