“Paradise in Santa Fe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

We stayed in the Hacienda, and found it to be absolutely lovely. The place is decorated with genuine Native American art which gives it a very peaceful and beautiful vibe. Breakfast with flute music wafting in the background started every morning with a smile. The staff, both in the Hacienda and the main hotel, were always pleasant and helpful. The free shuttle service made it a breeze to get around town, and even the hotel restaurant was special. Comfortable room, a great bathroom, free bottled water and chocolates. The place was full but very quiet at night (and we are fussy about that). We hope to return many more times!

Room Tip: Stay in the Hacienda!

Earlier reviews are spot on, this place is not well maintained. Basically, it's an OK hotel, with spacious rooms, comfortable beds, sheets, warm lobby. But some of the features have gone to seed. The shower head in our bathroom is cheap, something you'd find in a Motel 6. They offer morning coffee and tea in the elevator foyer on each floor, a nice touch, but when I got there at 9, the table wasn't clean and the hot water pot was empty. Our room was next to a family with teens who were loud playing video games, the walls are so thin. Luckily we are sound sleepers. All in all, since we used points, we didn't have high expectations, but we felt sorry for those who paid high-end hotel price.

With apologies for the lack of hot water at the coffee station and we are sorry to learn you didn’t enjoy your stay. Obviously noisy neighbors can be a problem regardless of the wall construction as we spent a great deal of time working on sound attenuation and installed double sheetrock on all walls with stagger studs when we built the Hotel. Please call the Front Desk in future, as the Duty Manager can talk with rambunctious guests!!

this was my 1st trip to Santa Fe as a young professional and I have to say the staff and the hotel was great. The have a shuttle and a spa and free WiFi that is code protected. You are close to all the downtown hotspots of Santa Fe with out being in the plaza.
I will say that the sofa's made me and my life mate itch the whole stay, to the point of forming a rash up.Maybe we just don't do well with wool sofa's & when we asked about the sofa's the staff stated that most are wool and some thing else. So if you cant handle the wool make sure to sit on the outside patio or hang out in the bedroom.
Over all this is a great place

Room Tip: if you can not handle the wool then make sure to not sit on the sofa's in your room other then t...

So sorry to learn about your sofa/wool allergy?! I haven’t encountered this issue before, but please advise us next time you make a reservation and we will see if we can find a non-wool sofa.

Thank you, however, for our positive comments. Wishing you a Happy New Year!!

We have been staying at the Hotel Santa Fe every Christmas Eve for the past several years. Its charm, amenities, and proximity to the heart of the City can't be beat. From the time we step into the hotel through its beautifully appointed doors and throughout our stay the friendly staff always exceeds our expectations. The shuttle service is a plus, though we bring our own vehicle and are familiar with the City. During this particular visit we enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace having a hot drink in the evening as well as the wonderful free morning coffee in the sunny alcove of the floor where we stayed. Next time we will come prepared to enjoy the free Yoga session. I may have to talk my husband into returning for our anniversary, my birthday or the Santa Fe Opera instead of waiting until next Christmas Eve!

Room Tip: Enjoy having a room at the end of the hall on any floor.

The hotel has a nice setting, and the lumieres lining the top of the buildings were charming. The staff was pleasant and offered us an upgrade for just a few dollars more. There is a hidden resort fee in the on-line ordering process, so don't be caught by surprise like we were. There is temporary parking outside the lobby entrance, and permanent parking was available a short walk away. Our room - a junior suite - was warm, but just a little too cozy. For example, there was little closet space and no where to set your luggage. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was adequate. We had drinks at the hotel bar, but they were overpriced. I didn't think any bartender in Santa Fe could make a bad margarita, but ours did. The hotel has a concierge, and she was somewhat helpful in finding us a nice restaurant. Overall, I think we'd probably stay at the Hotel Santa Fe again, assuming it was merely for a place to crash -- nothing more.

We just returned from a week at the Hotel Santa Fe. This was our first stay here (second time in santa fe). We were overwhelmed at how much we enjoyed our stay. The butlers and staff overall were very attentive to us and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate our requests. The food was fantastic (especially the venison) and dinner entertainment on Sat superb. We used the parking lot for our car rental, but also used the shuttle when we did not feel like driving. The evening happy hour and breakfasts on 6th floor were amazing in a beautiful setting. Lubo, Javier, and Mark were great butlers, and Danielle assisted me with a special request. They answered many of our questions and introduced us to the place. We wished we could have brought our dogs too, but they stayed home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

We enjoy staying at places that are not part of a big chain where you know what to expect. This place was unique in its atmosphere and hospitality. The gift shop was as inviting as any downtown and we were pleased to meet the artist and tribal council leader Geraldo.

Also visited nearby businesses: Sissel's for jewelry, Cowboyz for boots, Cowgirls for BBQ, RailRunner RR station, & more. Canceled other reservations to eat at Hotel Santa Fe's Amaya instead.

Can't say enough positive. Only drawback was walking out to the hottub after dark and not finding the light switch. Made due with the background light available.

Room Tip: The corner room on the 6th floor across from the room where breakfast is served and happy hour given...

My girlfriend and I are in the middle of a road trip. We recently stayed at this property when we spontaneously decided to stay in Santa Fe. I am used to staying in branded hotels that are at least four stars or higher, such as Marriott, Hilton, and Westin. So naturally when we booked Hotel Santa Fe on a last minute deal, we lowered our expectations based on past experiences with other non-branded hotels. In short, this hotel far exceeded our expectations on multiple fronts, with one lone exception being the spotty WIFI coverage.

Basic amenities:

Free on-site parking
Free hotel shuttle within 1 mile radius of downtown Santa Fe
Free WIFI
Exercise facilities - 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 1 recumbent bike, all cardio machines had their own TV sets, full set of free weights, weight machine, 1 bench, towels, water, and headphones are all provided.
Pool and hot tub
Central heat/ac with in-room temperature control
Coffee and tea on every floor from 7am to 10am

Paid amenities:

Mini-bar
Massage and spa treatments (an additional $50 for in-room)
Meals
Snacks

What it lacks:

Microwave
Fridge
Coffee maker

What it lags:

TV is an old-style tube TV, not LCD
Curtain does not have blackout or sheer, just horizontal flaps
Toiletries could be better
Ethernet connection

What took off 1 star:

The WIFI coverage was problematic for us. Signal was weak, and dropped frequently.

Service:

Excellent. Check in and check out were both easy and speedy. They accommodated our request for a quiet room away from elevator.

Quirks:

Access to exercise room requires a brief walk outside. Considering the temperature outside in December, it was slightly inconvenient. Entrance to the hotel is not very obvious, and we missed our turn almost every time we were coming in.
