“A one-of-a kind inn that is the authentic Santa Fe experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Fun and funky hotel with garden fountains, flower-lined pathways and tons of history and charm. Gracious service and an amazing value. Just 5 minute drive to downtown, this isn't the place to stay if you want to walk to downtown but if you don't want to pay downtown prices so you'll have more $$ to spend on art and shopping, this is the place!

We stayed here for a few days and it was wonderful! The hotel staff were great especially the breakfast staff. We had a balcony room above the pool and our room was clean and tidy. Take a walk around the grounds there is so many things to see and the outdoor hot tub was very relaxing and romantic. I am so happy that we chose this place and I am sure that we will be back!

Been coming here for years and will continue to do so. Every room is unique. I think we have gotten a different room every time. Lovely pool. Lovely hot tubs. A tiny gym if ya need a quick workout in a pinch. Wifi is reliable.

We stayed here during a spring trip to Santa Fe. It has lovely grounds and the hot tub is awesome after a day of walking around Santa Fe. The setting it's located in is relaxing and has an outdoor fireplace. Even though on a busy street the inn is easy to get in and out of and quiet for sleeping. The breakfast was okay and good enough to start off your day. I don't go to Santa Fe for breakfast. What makes this hotel so great is the 50's feel of a motel from when I was a kid. It has a great history. The pool area is nice as well. I would stay again for sure.

The week of Indian Market we didn't think we'd be able to find ANYTHING affordable in Santa Fe. But after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to check out the El Rey Inn. Everything online said they were booked, but I picked up the phone, called them and, voila! - we had a room. It was funky fun, tiny, and close to the street. But it offered everything we needed, - including a little refrigerator and coffeer maker. It was also surprisingly quiet. We enjoyed the grounds and even visited the outdoor hot tub one evening. What a treat! and you can't beat it the price. Breakfast bar in the morning was fun because you got to visit with lots of other travellers, and could sit outdoors or indoors. They also have a book filled with local artist brochures and information in their lobby, so be sure to check it out if you plan on hitting some of the galleries. I heard that the restaurant just across the street is fabulous, but unfortunately we never had time to check it out. Next time!

Room Tip: They have a HUGE variety to choose from, when they aren't busy. I'd book early, and talk to...

This has been our go to place for 10 years. This year they raised their prices from $129 to 135 for a 2 queen room. Includes breakfast. Beautiful gRdens. Pool. Hot tub. Laundry. Many people picnic in the beUtidul gardens. Son't miss it. You will be pleased.

The El Rey Inn is a destination itself. The property is filled with beautiful gardens, water features, wildlife and little shaded patios. I was concerned that street noise would be an issue since we had a unit closer to Cerillos, but it wasn't an issue at all. Breakfast is served is a cozy part of the main building with the option to eat outside or in. Breakfast is mainly bread items, yogurt and cereal which was fine for my family. Our room was clean and well stocked, it had a small fridge and a microwave, we even had our own private little patio off the bedroom. We rented a one bedroom with an extra twin in a little nook. The size was a little small, but we didn't spend much time there so it worked for us. The pool area is quiet and surrounded by gardens. Because the El Rey is located on old Route 66 there's some interesting history to this property. The Plaza area in Santa Fe is a 5 minute drive and parking downtown wasn't an issue. I would stay here again and suggest it as an option, you won't be disappointed.
