“The Shaw Suite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Perfect selection for our family of three. Could walk from the ferry and to down town. We had a kitchen in our suite. The staff was great, even booked whale watching tour for us last minute. The free breakfast delivered to our suite was - Interesting. I would recommend they start giving guest some options. I am just not a fan of grits. That was the difference between a rating of 4 and 5.

We had friends with a family of five and they stayed in the Sunshine Suite, whcih was also great. They actually had a bath and a half!

Our stay at Tucker House was just awesome. We were immediately greeted upon arrival and given a tour of the facility and our room. The room was even nicer than the pictures. Breakfast was a very fun experience as we shared a table with several other guests and spent over an hour sharing personal experiences. We followed a recommendation from the staff and went to The Bluffs for dinner. The view was fantastic and the food was excellent. Throughout our visit, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Each room is unique so I recommend looking at pictures of all of them before selecting the room that...

We stayed in Patience Corner for one night and were very pleased with our entire stay. The Tucker House is a short walk (up a pretty steep hill) that is very easy to find from the ferry. Due to the ferry schedule, we arrived well before check-in. They left clear instructions upon arrival on how to get in touch with them and were accommodating about storing our bags while we explored town. Once we got in the room, the staff made sure we were comfortable and that we had everything we needed including several recommendations for area restaurants. We chose to eat at Coho, which was delicious. The room was very comfortable for the two of us...plenty of room with a great bathroom which included a jetted tub and a walk-in shower (the cookies were a great touch). Upon booking, I was a bit concerned that it was a pet-friendly establishment, only because my husband has allergies, but everything was very clean and well-maintained. No issues whatsoever with his allergies while we were there. The other wonderful thing was how quiet it was. I realize we were there a little before peak season, but they seemed to be full, and we did not hear any disturbances. My husband is a light sleeper so this is saying something.
Bikes were available (with helmets) for free, and were a great way to explore the surrounding area.
Breakfast was outstanding the next morning. Overall, a wonderful stay and a great experience. We would stay in this B&B again.

Room Tip: Patience Corner is in the front of the house on the top floor. Very quiet and spacious.

We stayed in Goose in the Pond, a little "cottage" tastefully decorated and comfortable. We had a gas fireplace, eat in kitchen stocked with coffee, orange juice, granola bars and daily homebaked cookies! Hospitality was great! Everyone was so helpful with the arrangements, directions and orientation to the Island and the property was immaculate. Breakfasts were amazing: each day a new surprise (we were served in our cottage). Homemade granola was fantastic, strawberries were from the garden. Everything was done with great care. it was a great home away from home and we would recommend to anyone!

Easily 5 stars for Tucker House! The accommodations were so comfortable and the food was divine. Breakfasts were varied each day but luckily the delicious granola was part of each day's servings. Be sure to make a dinner reservation at Coho Restaurant; the seafood was incredible. The beautiful gardens, helpful staff and great location to shops made this vacation one I want to repeat very soon! Cindy B, Portland, OR

My husband & I booked a room at the last minute before jumping on the ferry. Anna Maria gave us the Four Winds room, which was absolutely wonderful. We ended up staying a 2nd night, this time in the Lopez Suite ... even better with great water views and big windows (felt like being in a tree house in a way). I actually prefer having breakfast in our own room, so I would recommend doing that if you're not up for morning chats with the other guests. Breakfast was good ... especially liked the poppy seed pancakes. Wish there was a bit more though ... maybe scrambled eggs in addition would be good. My husband still felt pretty hungry afterwards. The gardens/grounds and the buildings themselves are very well-kept and beautiful. It's a magical B&B and I'd highly recommend! Thanks Anna Maria & Beth for your hospitality.

We stayed in Jennie's Cottage. The breakfast was delicious. Thank you Molly. The landscaping was beautiful. Thank you Wenda. There was only a foot of space between the wall and the footboard of the bed. The "stand alone" cottage shares a wall with the property's laundry room. It's very noisy in the late afternoon into early evening. I would return and stay at Goose in the Pond.

Sylvia,

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to write about your stay. We are very fortunate to have Molly and Wenda as part of our team. They are both so good at what they do.
Jennie’s Cottage is one of our cozy units and despite its size, enjoys all the amenities the Inn has to offer, complementary bikes, kayaks and a wonderful breakfast delivered to your door. Guests use the main common deck as an extension of their living space enjoying breakfast or unwinding with a glass of wine or cold beer at the end of the day. Others choose to stay in Jennie’s because of its value pricing figuring they will be out and about enjoying all the island has to offer and just want a clean comfortable place for repose without breaking the bank.
Jennie’s is adjacent to our laundry room. Depending on the day, our room attendants might work as late as 5:30 finishing up the wash and ironing for the next day. When they leave all equipment is turned off for the night.

If you are looking for a cottage more suitable for relaxing and hanging out Goose in the Pond would be a great choice or even Lizzie’s Cottage, right across the deck from Jennie’s. Both are stand-alone units with plenty of privacy.

We appreciate your staying with us and look forward to your return visit to our Inns’ always open door.

With kind regards,

am
