“Better than home!”

Tucker House Bed and Breakfast

We stayed in the Patience Corner room of the Tucker House for two nights and couldn't have had a better experience. The room, decorated in blue and cream with gold, and featuring simple antique furniture, was beautiful. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, and I wish I had looked to see who made the mattress, etc. as I think I would buy them for home! The bathroom was the height of luxury -- quite large and roomy, with a 2-person Jacuzzi tub, a large separate shower (gorgeous tilework -- the picture below does NOT do justice to the lovely tile at all!) and a large vanity with larger mirror -- and good lighting! Possibly my favorite feature was a small "window seat" in the bathroom, perfect for setting luggage out of the way but in easy reach. LOTS of welcome hot water!

Our hosts worked with us when we missed check-in hours because of a late train into Seattle, but Anna Maria was there to see us safely in despite the late hour, which was especially generous given that she and Dave have recently added a restaurant, Coho, to their two B&Bs (Tucker House and Harrison House). Delicious cookies and truffles awaited us in our room.

Breakfast was four delicious courses, including a home-made granola that most of us made plans to have shipped home in quantity. It was served in a lovely room of the Harrison House, and we met several other guests and traded plans and recommendations with them and our breakfast staff. On the second morning, when we left before breakfast was ready, we were provided with "sack breakfasts" to take with us on the ferry, including the most delicious scones I've ever eaten.

Tucker House B&B is actually composed of two separate houses, with Harrison House taking up the other half of the same block. Our room was in the "upper" house, which had a comfortable living room and kitchen available to us, as well as a darling sun porch.

The "grounds" of the facilities are delightful, beautifully planted and featuring several unexpected fountains and pools tucked away under stairways or in entry nooks.

Our stay was a terrific value and we will definitely plan to stay here again when we return some day!

We had a wonderful 2night stay at the Tucker House B&B.
The B&B hosts were very accommodating to our needs. We were participating in a bike tour and the hosts made sure we had food to take with us on the ferry and cookies and chocolates waiting for us in the room when we returned. The room was very comfortable. We especially appreciated the jacuzzi tub, which was the perfect end to a long day of bicycling. The B&B is located right next to the heart of Friday Harbor, so was easy to walk out for dinner/drinks in the eve and out to shops during the day. We definitely plan to return in the future.

    • Disliked — nothing, it all was very nice

“Amazing Breakfast”

The Tucker House is actually a couple of houses perched on a hill overlooking Friday Harbor. Our family just stayed there - two adults, and a 13 and a 10 year old - two weekends in a row. We are on the island for work and we had meant to splurge only for the first weekend and to camp the second weekend, but it was so lovely we couldn't help ourselves and came back again right away.

We have now stayed in two different rooms at the B&B. They were really different, but we really enjoyed both, for different reasons. The first weekend we stayed in the 4 Winds, an elegant suite, light and airy, with vaulted ceilings, that is sort of perched on the top floor of the house at the top of the hill. It has a jacuzzi which was really nice after a cold day out in the rain.

The little touches are also extremely pleasant - cookies brought to you in the late afternoon, one of those gas-fired stoves that heat the room and are beautiful to look at, a video and dvd library. But the very best thing were the breakfasts.

We've now had amazing lemon ricotta pancakes, crepes, omelettes, always a fresh fruit cup, homemade granola (I liked it and I don't even like granola) and dessert(!) after breakfast. Once we had almond cake with berry sauce and whipped cream another time we had tiramisu and another time key lime pie. There's coffee of course and tea and juice. It was really just super.

The second time we stayed in the Middleton Suite, which was more casual and actually worked really well for us as a family because there was a kitchen in it and so we could have dinner there and also it made it possible to have breakfast served in the room. Relaxing!
Another nice thing for us, though it doesn't say so on their website, they have wifi. It's also just on the edge of the little downtown and it was nice to be able to explore the shops and poke around without having to get into the car.
