The Tucker House is actually a couple of houses perched on a hill overlooking Friday Harbor. Our family just stayed there - two adults, and a 13 and a 10 year old - two weekends in a row. We are on the island for work and we had meant to splurge only for the first weekend and to camp the second weekend, but it was so lovely we couldn't help ourselves and came back again right away.

We have now stayed in two different rooms at the B&B. They were really different, but we really enjoyed both, for different reasons. The first weekend we stayed in the 4 Winds, an elegant suite, light and airy, with vaulted ceilings, that is sort of perched on the top floor of the house at the top of the hill. It has a jacuzzi which was really nice after a cold day out in the rain.

The little touches are also extremely pleasant - cookies brought to you in the late afternoon, one of those gas-fired stoves that heat the room and are beautiful to look at, a video and dvd library. But the very best thing were the breakfasts.

We've now had amazing lemon ricotta pancakes, crepes, omelettes, always a fresh fruit cup, homemade granola (I liked it and I don't even like granola) and dessert(!) after breakfast. Once we had almond cake with berry sauce and whipped cream another time we had tiramisu and another time key lime pie. There's coffee of course and tea and juice. It was really just super.

The second time we stayed in the Middleton Suite, which was more casual and actually worked really well for us as a family because there was a kitchen in it and so we could have dinner there and also it made it possible to have breakfast served in the room. Relaxing!
Another nice thing for us, though it doesn't say so on their website, they have wifi. It's also just on the edge of the little downtown and it was nice to be able to explore the shops and poke around without having to get into the car.

“Wonderful Place”

Tucker House Bed and Breakfast

Mar 29, 2008

We had a delightful three day stay at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast on the island. The home is located about 2 blocks from the ferry terminal, withing walking distace of downtown and has great views of the harbor and town.

We were celebrating our 15th Anniversary and the owners, Anna Maria, David, and Michael made sure we had all the touring and dining information readily available. They also have a limited number of bicycles and kayaks available for their guests. breakfast is served family style in their adjoining property, Harrison House, although they also offer room service with some advance notice. The food was excellent and was a satisfying way to start our days.

We will certainly be back!!! Highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to spend some time on the island.

The stay at the Bed and Breakfast was above average. I enjoyed the color and decor of the room The Four Winds, it was extremely inviting and comfortable. Suggestion, Serve Breakfast a little later; like 9:30 am - 10:30 am, relaxing is less fun when you have to wake up early for the complimentary Breakfast :( Also I would suggest "To Go" Breakfasts be what you are planning on making for the rest of the guests, but in a foam "To Go" container. Some to think about as well is adding DVD players in your rooms. Just a few suggestions. Our romantic getaway was just that, it was excellent. Thank you.

Room was good. Nice kitchen, but needed a couch/seating area that is not in the kitchen. Bathroom was good. Very nice touch of having the frig stocked with Milk , Orange Juice and coffee grounds. Free breakfast delivery to the room was great. Daily cookie was a nice touch. Place was very quiet and was nice change of pace from the city. Walking distance to downtown and can walk to/from ferry. They need to replace the mattress.
