“Exquisite Craftsman! Great B&B!”

The Kirk House looks like an untouched model Craftsman home. The wallpaper, furnishings, woodwork, etc. are all exquisite.

We stayed in a room that had been converted from a dining room, The shower was HUGE. Very comfortable room & bed, and gourmet breakfasts.

As others have commented, it is an easy walk to all the downtown restaurants, shops, and the ferry.

“Loved the Kirk House”

The Kirk House Bed & Breakfast

Jul 14, 2007

This is a delightful bed and breadfast that lives up to the great reputations of many bed and breadfasts. The owners, Debbie and Allan, create a welcoming and very organize environment. The breakfasts are really superb - the homade granola really is a plus. The days that we visited were exptremely hot. Despite this, Debbie had a portable air conditioner and advised us on how to best keep the environment cool - it worked. The beds are very comfortable and the home is walkable to downtown. I would definitly go there again!

“Gorgeous Arts & Crafts Home”

The Kirk House Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I went to the Kirk House earlier this year for their Centennial Special. The Kirk House is a 1907 Craftsman in the town of Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands. The owners, Debbie and Alan, have decorated the B&B in period furnishings that literally took my breath away when we walked in the front door. The beautiful woodwork, inviting fireplace, and craftsman details throughout the house really showed off the best of the Arts and Crafts era. Debbie had afternoon coffee and tea available, along with some goodies she had baked. When we came back from dinner, we chose a dvd from their selection, then watched it from the privacy of our room. The bed lulled me into a deep and restful sleep. I didn't want to leave it in the morning, but the smells of their multi-course breakfast were too tempting to resist. Breakfast started with their homemade granola, creamy yogurt and fresh fruit. If it had stopped right there, I would have been full and happy, but Debbie kept bringing out more. The entire breakfast was delicious and beautifully served. They were informative about places to go on all of the islands (we are new to Orcas, and still learning about the San Juans), so we got a good education, too.

“Loved the Kirk House”

I had a wonderful experience at the Kirk House. The house itself is a stunner. It is absolutely gorgeous, beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. And it is conveniently located within walking distance of the town and harbor. How perfect is that!

My room was soothing and private. I especially enjoyed watching dvds borrowed from the library at night in my room. That was a special treat. The wireless internet access made keeping up with my work email a snap.

The Kirk House hosts were terrific. They were warm, welcoming and gave me great tips on what to see and do. And the breakfast! It was delicious, plentiful and obviously prepared with care. I really appreciated finding a homemade snack when I returned in the afternoon. It was this attention to detail and special touches that made the Kirk House unique. I've stayed at many B&Bs over the years. The Kirk House is at the top of my list. I would return in a heartbeat.

We loved our stay at Kirk House because: 1) it is small, intimate and quite homey; 2) the owners are wonderful folk and know when to be friendly, helpful, conversational...as well as when to give you the privacy you want; 3) it is a beautiful old home in the Arts and Crafts style and has been preserved very well; 4) it is within walking distance of the galleries, restaurants, stores, etc. in Friday Harbor; 5) our room was very comfortable; and the 5) breakfasts and afternoon snacks were great! We would definitely make a return visit.
