My Bride and our kids made an impromptu trip to Friday harbor this past week. We called and got their 2 queen room. For what we got, I think the rate was a little steep, but there is not much to be had in Friday harbor that is not a bed and breakfast, so we were pleased to see a very clean and tidy room. From the aesthetics view though it seemed more like dorms for a soccer camp. We love the spirit of the staff and clearly they are proud of the condition they keep the place. It would be nice if the rooms may get updated a bit to allow for some sitting space and the beds to be against the wall not against the through wall heater/air conditioner.

This is a great hotel for someone looking to enjoy more time outside than inside. We used it has a home-base for our adventures on the island after Thanksgiving. The guy who manned the desk each time we interacted was very helpful, coming out to our building late at night to silence a chirping fire alarm from an empty room.
The rooms are very small, as others have noted. The smallest has room for really just a queen bed and a couple feet of buffer on three sides. The refrigerator was very handy and appreciated.
The size of the room wasn't a problem, as it was expected. My only gripe is that you can clearly hear what's happening in neighboring rooms. Our neighbors were having a speakerphone conversation and we could not only hear them clearly but also could hear the person on the other end of the phone call. They weren't being loud at all, so this was surprising. The walls are really paper-thin.
I'd come back, but would bring a pair of earplugs next time. If possible, I'd suggest to the management that they try and space out folks and keep a buffer room between them. I felt like there were so few guests that we each could have had a building to ourselves while we were here.

As other reviewers have noted the rooms are small. But, if you are here to sit around your hotel room, you should probably stay at home. There is free coffee at the front desk in the morning and a covered area in front of the office to eat the breakfast you brought. The most important thing for me in a hotel is cleanliness and the good folks at Orca Inn work hard to keep those tiny rooms clean.

Good bang for the buck. There is so much to do on the island that we didn't mind that the rooms are a tad small. Clean and quiet. And in a great location in Friday harbor. All in all we were happy especially about the price.

Room tip: Our only complaint is the free wifi didn't work. Try and get a room with two beds so the room is significantly bigger.

I was looking for a clean room with little fanfare and the Orca Inn fit the bill perfectly. The reviews said the rooms were small but when I read that I know its from someone who hasn't traveled much. The staff were helpful and very friendly.
