Run away from this place as fast as you can! We spent two disgusting nights in a "panabode" fronting the marina. These were built in the 40s or 50s and show it, never upgraded. The problem is the owner is tearing these down to build a new resort and no one cares about a thing there anymore. We checked in near the manager's (Jim) quitting time, he took our money and handed us a key and that was it. Could have cared less about us. We got into our room and discovered the gas stove did not work to make our dinner that night. We had him come over to light the burners. In an hour the smell of gas was overwhelming, we had to turn the pilots off again. We used one of 2 gas grills outside, one was out of fuel and both were filthy with no way to clean them. OUr double bed was ancient, the bedding rough and scratchy and the bedspread smelled. The sofa smelled and appeared dirty too. We covered it in an extra sheet. The room backs up to a muddy embankment right outside the window. No screens on the windows - we opened the windows and door for some air afgter the gas smell and huge flying bugs filled the room. we killed bugs in there for an hour. The next day we spoke to the manager about all this stuff and he basicaly said "tough." He also had a fight with another guest right in front of us. Also, servicemen were working on the septic and water system right in front of our room all the next morning. No peace, no rest. What an awful place! They should be ashamed, and the manager should be fired. And we paid almost $200 a night for this!!!!! I am going to try to get my money back.

The picturesque web site is hardly what greets one when arriving at Snug Harbor. We rented a "cabin" on the water for 2 nights at $219/night. What we found was a small, single wide mobile home (pocket doors, miniature spaces etc..) dressed up like a cabin right next to the noisy gravel parking lot. The small space had a cute loft for my 3 children to sleep in (it's only saving grace). We soon started noticing ants crawling everywhere inside the "cabin". It wasn't until the 2nd day that I noticed the small "do not drink the water" sign posted by the kitchen sink. By that time we had all drunken the water. One week later, we all came down with terrible symptoms of itching, chills etc. My doctor said that we had contracted parasites most likely from the water on our trip to the Snug Harbor Resort (because of the timeline). We are still dealing with symptoms and I will never go back and hope that everyone take my warning as a travelor and mom. Totally not worth the money or trouble!

If you are looking for a vacation spot to slow down & get away from it all this is it! Beautiful scenery, friendly staff! I was glad we had taken our own groceries. Purchase them on the main land, because the local store is pretty expensive. Don't forget to gas up too. Lots of photo ops. We saw a harbor seal and a bald eagle during our visit. Easy to find, convenient to all the tourist places and to Roche Harbor & Friday Harbor. Visited with several people who have been repeatedly staying at Snug Harbor for years. When I made reservations it was the cheapest place I found to stay on the island. We loved it except the cabin was small for us (2 adults & 2 kids), however they did tell me it was for 2 people when I made the reservations, but it was all I could find at the time. We would stay there again if we could get a larger cabin.

“Not a good value”

We managed to find some last minute accomodations at the Snug Harbor resort over the July long weekend for a daily rate of over $200 a night, but were not too impressed with the quality of the accomodations. We stayed at a 2 bedroom kitchen suite which was very small and the bedrooms looked like they were built after putting the beds in them as there was no place to move around in the bedrooms. The beds themselves were alright. The property looked pretty old as well.

On the positive side, the front desk staff were very friendly and the cabins were facing the marina with picnic benches just outside the cabins which were very convenient. The place was also very close to whale-watching and kayaking tours at the marina.

Overall the resort is in a good location, but I would have expected a lot more comfortable stay for the price we paid.
