“Funky & fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

We spent 4th of July weekend here. We wanted something unique and different and this really fit the bill! Friday Harbor does a nice fireworks display out on the water and when that's done, you can watch Lopez Island's over-the-top fireworks display, all from the comfort of the boat. We were a little concerned about privacy when we reserved this, but were pleasantly surprised by the amount of separation afforded to each guest. The front cabin gets exclusive use of the bedroom, living room, and bathroom. The kitchen is shared common space, and the rear cabin has it's own separate entrance from the outside and is completely separate. The boat is an older, wood boat that has been converted. It suffered some years of neglect prior to the current owner's purchase, but they are working hard to restore her. This boat has lots of character, and though some areas may show signs of her age, we found everything to be very clean and comfortable! The owners are incredibly gracious hosts, and they exude warmth and friendship. This is truly a labor of love for them! Laura is a wonderful and creative cook, we loved the fabulous (& very generous) breakfasts she whipped up for us on the boat each morning along with endless cups of coffee and interesting conversation. I recommend this to everyone who is planning a visit to beautiful Friday Harbor, and if you're not, here's a good reason to go!

My wife found this B&B while looking for places to stay on San Juan Island. We thought the idea was different than staying at a hotel or a camp environment and liked the idea of doing something different. Laura was superb throughout our stay. Not only did she meet us when we came off the ferry to insure we found the boat, but she made the next two days truly extraordinary. The boat is unique and the harbor quiet. Mornings were refreshing with the special breakfasts Laura prepared. Anyone can cook eggs and bacon; but Laura made the ordinary truly extraordinary! With a great start to the day enjoying the island experiences was even more special. I am 6'2" and found the bathroom a bit of a challenge. But the wharf offered normal bathrooms which worked for me. If you are looking for an extraordinary experience on San Juan Island to start and end your day then take advantage of this truly unique B&B.

You will never forget staying here! Don't expect a standard hotel room or even a typical B&B. When you sleep in a state room and are awaken by the swimming of a seal and her pup, you realize that this is a unique experience.
The hosts ensure that you are comfortable. The breakfast is awesome as you sit topside enjoying the harbor sights and sounds. We recommend at least one night that you stroll ashore and grab some food and wine at the local market and make your own private meal on deck as the sun fades over the horizon.
Step outside your comfort zone. You won't regret it!

Room Tip: Plan on using the showers at the marina.

This was a lot of fun. The bed and the bathroom is not especially comfortable, but the idea of staying on a boat is great. And our host Laura made sure we were well taken care of. I would recommend staying here.

We spent a weekend on a charming 60" motor sailor with two staterooms. We stayed in the forward stateroom next to the main salon and private bathroom....lots and lots of charm. We had the boat all to ourselves and had at our disposal DVD's,CD's,books and Wi-Fi.The owner cooked a delicious breakfast the next morning with a secret family recipe of "creamy" syrup over a baked peach pancake dish, bacon, sausage and lots of coffee or tea.She asked beforehand if we had any special dietary needs so no worries there.
The boat is located within walking distance of the ferry system and downtown Friday Harbor full of restaurants and quaint shops. The island itself is home to a vineyard and distillery and even in the quiet season, there's plenty to do-complete with fewer people and cars.It was a wonderful weekend.SDilbeck

A splendid concept (B&B on a retired boat) but would be a better place to stay if it were cleaner and less cluttered. Great location. It was delightful to be on the water.

We had visited 10 years ago, when it was under different owners and the vessel was much more 'ship shape.'

Room Tip: either room is ok
