“Awesome Hotel!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Conveniently located near the river walk, convention center, and plenty of fun activities and restaurants, this hotel is perfectly placed for a great trip! The staff was pleasant and helpful, the food was tasty, and the lobby lovely. And they have peacocks strutting near the beautiful pool! What more could this family need?? Top Notch accommodations and worth every penny!

This is in a great location, only a block away from the Riverwalk. The hotel has much to offer and we truly enjoyed our stay. The bed was heavenly, the complimentary coffee in the lobby was by Starbucks, the pool was well maintained, the bar area was very cozy, and we truly enjoyed the courtyard setting and the evening firepit. What I didn't not like was the $25 parking fee every day to have our car sit in the lot until we had to drive to the airport.

I picked this hotel as its so close to the Riverwalk, but far enough away from the crowd. Its across from Hemisphere park and Towers of America. My nephew loved swimming in the pool until 11pm (spring break) and the peacocks. The staff was friendly, room size was great- loved it.Highly recommend staying there.

This was my second stay at the Marriott Plaza Hotel in San Antonio. The Hotel is beautiful and the staff treated us like royalty!! The property is so warm and inviting and the kids had a great time in the pool. the location is perfect so that you can walk to the River Walk or the Alamo as well as many other places that you might be there to visit. I can't say enough nice about the Hotel and would highly recommend it to you!!!!

The pictures of the garden on the Marriott site are what sold us on staying here, and we weren't disappointed. The grounds are lovely. We stayed in a room facing the garden on the first floor. It was lovely having all that greenery surrounding us. The room was fine, nothing special, and a bit dark, but fine. The restaurant served a price fixed breakfast that was huge. It included the buffet which also included omlets. MIne must have had 4 eggs although the waiter said it only had 2 (no way).
The pool area is beautiful and the fire pit is a nice way to end an evening.
We found the location to be excellent as well. It is a short walk from the Riverwalk, right past La Vilita, a nice area to browse. While the hotel is not right on the river, it is much quieter and has real space to relax. It has a resort feel right in the heart of downtown, a short walk from all the Riverwalk action. It is also just across the street from the B Bike rental shop. This is a nice plus if the weather cooperates.
I need to make special mention of Thurston. He helped with Spurs ticket information and knew the best ways to travel around the city. He was always charming and professional and made our stay a joy.
The peahen and pheasant are an added attraction, but the peacock posing with his tail wide open is a photographic prize that no other hotel that I know of can offer!

Room Tip: I highly recommend a first floor garden facing room.

Thank you for sharing your experience on Trip Advisor. I am so happy that you tried our hotel and enjoyed your stay with us. The grounds are beautiful and the peacocks add something special that all our guests love. The fire pit at night is the perfect place to unwind.

Thank you for dining with us in our restaurant during your stay and I am glad you loved the variety and those omelets. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we want our guests to have an amazing breakfast experience.

I will be sure to recognize Thurston. He is fantastic and a huge asset to our team here. He truly wants to help our guests in whatever they need during their stay.

After reading many excellent reviews here on trip advisor, I decided this was the best choice for my family over Easter weekend. As it turns out, we could not have made a better decision. Out of the 5-10 trips we have made to San Antonio this was the best, by far. From the moment we drove up to the hotel we were greeted with enthusiasm and professionalism. From the valet and the wonderful front desk staff, all the way to the housekeepers.

This was the perfect place for us. The secluded feel in a busy town is what initially drew us there. It is like most others say, a beautiful resort tucked away from the madness of the river walk. My 5 and 2 year old boys loved the courtyard with the peacocks and pheasant. We could hardly drag them away. The jacuzzi and heated pool were just right for us after a long day walking the town. The even provide floats and toys for the kids in the pool area, which we took full advantage of.

The best part about out trip was saturday night. We had a very long day with Shamu and were discussing dinner for the night when my wife suggested getting a table outside at the hotel restaurant and avoid the river walk. We walked straight in and were greeted by a manager and Norma Jean, who helped us carry our things and got us a great table outside in the courtyard. The kids ran around and played and we were able to relax for once :). We shared the wedge salad and the best Salmon ever. We ended up sitting around for nearly 2 hours out there. The service was excellent and the food amazing!! So good, we asked for the same table the next morning for breakfast. The hotel hosted an Easter egg hunt for the kids and we were able to sit and enjoy breakfast while the boys hunted for eggs. The kids breakfast buffet was free and the adults was $17.95 and very well worth it.

We took a last stroll down the river walk for lunch and headed out. Thankfully the staff was generous and accommodated us in a late check out which was the icing on the cake. The managers even helped us load our car, along with the valet staff.

Very clean, well kept, great staff, great food, great location right off of the interstate. You don't even have to deal with traffic downtown and is a 5 minute walk to the river walk. (use to be a four seasons)

Not sure what else you could possibly ask for from a hotel. We will definitely be back, sooner than later!!!

Thank you Marriott Plaza!

Room Tip: The rooms over looking the courtyard are the way to go. Every morning and night there were people ou...
