We travel quite a bit and have stayed at all types of hotels, but we have never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast. The Oge House has been one of our best experiences. Our room accommodations were great! We were very comfortable and relaxed in our room. Breakfast was the best; home cooked and very tasty. We especially liked the setting in the historic King William area. Lastly, the staff was great. They were very accommodating and helpful.

  • Liked — The quietness and the atmosphere.
  • Disliked — There was nothing to dislike.

We spent two nights in San Antonio at the Oge. The location is fantastic, in the lovely Historic King William district. You can pick up a map of the neighborhood and take the walk through history, reading up on each home. It was so delightful, we did it twice. We stayed in the Mathis room, well decorated with antiques, a large, bright room in soft shades of blue. It was on the top floor, front of the house, with a relaxing verandah. The bathroom was small, but the shower had the best water pressure imagineable, and plenty of hot water. The king bed and pillows were firm. The hosts are very helpful with making arrangements, and calling for taxis, as we had no car. Breakfast was delicious, and just the right amount of food was on the plate. We loved walking everywhere, it is 10-15 minutes along the river into town. It is so nice being below the street level, meandering along, away from the traffic. You must go see the historic theatres there, so unique. The city has done a great job of developing the riverwalk, it is safe and beautiful at any time. The boat trip was fun on the river, it helped us to get a sense of where things were. If you want the finest in dining, le Reve was incredible and worth every dollar. The Oge is truly an elegant inn, and a special piece of history. It is quiet, clean, well maintained and comfortable, we were so pleased with our short stay.

Our experience was during the NCAA Final Four weekend and this property was perfectly located, it was a wonderful refuge in that it was not on the busy part of the Riverwal, the Innkeeper was wonderful and accurate and helpful, and breakfasts were all outstanding. If in San Antonio ever again, we will be at the Oge House Inn!

Great place to stay. Location is great--historic King William District, within walking distance of River Walk and great restaurants, ambiance is uncomparable with porches in front and back and beautiful grounds. Megan, the innkeeper, is a wonderful asset as both cook (breakfast is included) and knowledge of surrouding area and ongoing events.

I have to say, the presentation is very nice, however we were placed in a "first floor" basement room (with windows) and I was not real happy about that considering we could have been in town waterfront for the same price. We should have been informed that it was a basement room when we booked it-giving US the option to pay the price for a sub standard room. It smelled a bit musty. The "fireplace" was electric - dissapointing - although I'm sure it was for liability reasons, we should have been informed - it wasn't even propane!
On a positive note...The rooms and bathroom were very clean and nicely decorated. Megan was a wonderful hostess and the breakfasts were delicious. We walked the riverwalk into town both nights and felt very safe doing so - It was quite romantic.
I'm not sure I would stay again.
