Just stayed here for a business trip, though my family tagged along as well. Was upgraded to an Executive King, so that was nice.
Room - The Executive King was spacious enough for us (me, wife and baby). It came with a big balcony overlooking the Riverwalk, but because the hotel said there was a cricket issue, the doors stayed close for the most part.
Food - We had a meeting in the P2 level, and breakfast and lunch were catered. We also checked out the Concierge Lounge on the 28th floor for breakfast. Food-wise, the quality was great. As for the lounge, the hours are pretty tight (breakfast ends at 9), at least from my perspective. I'm more used to hotels going to 9:30 or even 10 a.m. The hotel restaurant - Cactus Flower - wasn't somewhere we ate at, though we tried. Surprisingly, it's not open for dinner -- only breakfast and lunch. There was a sign at the door the night we went that said dinner would be served at The Bar. We went there, and after sitting around for 10 minutes only to have no one come by, we left and walked to Whataburger instead.
Parking - They have self-parking for $25/day, which seems pricey. The elevator setup is also somewhat inconvenient, as you have to switch elevators at the lobby level to go from the garage up to your room. It makes sense from a security standpoint, but still an inconvenience.
Noise - The balcony was nice, but this hotel is near the highway, so those glass doors didn't do a good job insulating us from the traffic noise. The hotel knows this though, since it provides ear plugs in the room without asking. Also, either the walls are really thin, or the couple next door last night was REALLY enjoying themselves. That was the first time I had a legitimate episode of you-know-what next door. Thankfully, the hum of the highway outside kept the, um, aural gesticulations to a reasonable level.
All in all, the location is pretty good (right near the Alamo, River Center mall, highway, convention center and, of course, the River Walk). I'm more of a Hyatt guy though, so maybe next time I'll try one of their nearby options. Still, tough to say you'd go wrong here (especially if you're a voyeur).
