“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2009

WE stayed here 5 nights including a weekend. Breakfast was busy on the weekends but overall this was very good value stay. Walked to Riverwalk area several times and felt quite safe, particularly if you get onto the riverside walk as soon as possible. Easy to get to and easy to get to Missions by car.

BEWARE the location of your specific La Quinta!
There are 4 other La Quinta Inns in like a 6-block radius.

There's nothing impressive about the hotel or the rooms. Since I stayed by myself in the hotel room, I was given the handicap room. (2 doors away from the lobby, wheelchair ramp in front of the room, HUGE bathroom [but no bathtub], and plenty of walking space in the room itself). Employees were pretty friendly and accomodating, decent service.

The room wasn't impeccably clean, but I felt comfortable staying in it. The bed was a queen size and was fairly comfortable. I slept well and was consoled by the gazillion pillows on the bed. I liked the channels the tv received, a marathon of CSI, NCIS, and Friends kept me pretty entertained late at night. No microwave or refrigerator in the room. The bathroom was pretty large -to accomodate wheelchairs- however, the because of the handicap room, the shower only had a small ramp to separate the bathroom floor from the shower floor (which eventually flooded my bathroom every shower I took). I used my towels to dry the floor and still had enough towels to dry myself. Housekeeping did come in to dry up the flood and restock my towels.

The continental breakfast is served from 6-9am. Boiled eggs, juice, cereals, and individually wrapped muffins.. make your own judgment. A plus was the waffle maker, you can make yourself yummy, fluffy waffles in the shape of Texas!

A bigger plus was the fact that Market Square was literally across the street. My boyfriend and I had dinner at La Tierra which was absolutely delicious. Also, just a 10 minute walk to the Riverwalk and the Alamo.

Overall, okay service, okay room, okay stay. It satisfied what I needed, which was simply a clean place to sleep at night.

I was in town for a huge marathon in San Antonio. So were tons of other runners. Most hotels around San Antonio were totally booked due to the marathon. I got the last room available at La Quinta for that day, booked 2 weeks earlier. (They raised their normal room rates by $20 per room b/c of the marathon.) When I asked if I could get a late check out (from noon, to 1 pm) the manager said they had made it a policy to allow NO late check outs for ANY GUESTS that weekend. After all, he said, they were completely booked because of the marathon. This meant that no runners who stayed there would be able to take a shower after the run before getting on a plane or back in their cars for multi-hour trips back home!! Gross.

Now it seems like if you're jacking your rates up BECAUSE of a marathon and have sold out all your rooms BECAUSE of a marathon, thus making lots of extra money BECAUSE of a marathon, you could allow at least a minor (1 hour later check out) concession to those same marathoners who will now be denied a shower after running 26.2 miles and paying $135/night for a bare bones room. Very poor management decision and one that I will remember when making any future hotel decisions - No more La Quinta!

I booked this site in the Market Square area of San Antonio over the La Quinta web site. It was $ 80 for the weekdays but goes up to $ 120 on the weekends. On the positive site, La Quinta has done a nice job painting the outside of an older La Quinta hotel in the Market Square area of San Antonio. The motel is only a few minutes walk from the Riverwalk and Alamo. The front office staff were pleasant during check in. The inside of the room had been rennovated as well but was clean but on the tiny side. The front desk was also very kind to let us check in at noon. The negatives however outway the positives. First, be advised that this hotel has outside corridors. At night folks gather outside of the room in the parking lot to talk. Despite calls to the front desk this occurred to the early hours of the morning. Perhaps the arrival of Hurricane Ike was creating too many problems for the front office. Several vendors from the local area continually drop things through the doorways at nite which is kind of irritating because you cant tell what someone is doing outside of your room. The breakfast area is very small and was overcrowded in the morning. The breakfast was slightly below average.

We went to San Antonio for our anniversary. We were looking for something affordable but clean with free parking and complimentary breakfast. This was a good selection, the staff was very helpful. Diego offered excellent customer service and this was a great location with a wonderful mexican restaurant across the street and the walk to the riverwalk was great exercise for us.
I would stay here again!!!

We just returned from Texas and a 2 night stay at the Market La Qunita San Antonio. It was very easy to find , just off the Durango exit on Highway 35 and across from the Market. The walk from the market to the river walk, Alamo, King William district were all very doable though if you needed it there is alot of easy public transportation. We arrived early, not thinking we would be able to get into the room , but at least able to leave our car. To our surprise Diego, the day manager , was very accommodating and found an available room right away although we were several hours early. Whenever we saw Diego and the maintanence man Robert we were always greeted like friends and felt very much at home. The rest of the staff was equally friendly. Our main floor room had a small window which made the room seem small and darker but since we were rarely in our room it wasn't a big factor. We would highly recommend this property.
