We are big fans of the Omni Hotel chain and try and stay at one whenever we can. The hotel is historic, beautiful, romantic and right on the famous Riverwalk. We had our dog with us so they put us on the first floor...not where I would normally want to be but its there rule. We were given a very nice room that the pitio doors opened up right into the pool. The weather wasnt exactly made for lounging at the pool while we were there but it was nice to open the doors and sit outside in the late evening and ealry morning with coffee.
The check in staff and concierge were outstanding as usual for an Omni property. Checking in the gentleman was fast and very nice to deal with. We used the concierge to ask about restaurants and a ghost tour...again he went out of his way to help us.
The one problem, whuich to me was kind of a big one and kept this hotel for getting that fifth star was the valets. We chose not to use the $32.00 per night valet parking and elected to park in the public garage that is directly and I mean directly across the street from the hotel, its only $11.00 per day. We pulled under their very large parking area (I stress very large because you need to know we were not impeding and flow of traffic or taking up a valuable spot) Plus even if we were that what this area is for! Anyway as soon as these bozos found out were werent valeting thet because absoultly rude. There was no less than a dozen wheeled luggage carts and when I tried to use one they told me we coulnt and they were only for bellmen...whatever. I got our couple of bags to the curb alone and my wife waited till I went and parked. Im really upset that these guys had such a bad attitude...they need to learn from the valets at the main Omni in Houston.
Except for that we had a great time and will probabally go back. We didnt eat at the restaurant on the premises but it did look good and the in houst Starbucks was a convient treat as well.
