“Classy Hotel on Riverwalk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Omni La Mansion del Rio in San Antonio. Upon arrival we were met by a bellman who handed us a packet of information and keys to our room. We never had to go to the front desk to check in, going directly to our room instead. I am a member of the Omni Select Guest program and recommend this to others. We stayed in one of the Ambassador Rooms with a river view off our private balcony. Very large room in an L-shaped design with a king bed, a separate sitting area, a work area, spa tub and separate shower, a small private balcony out one back door and a shared balcony (with 3-4 other rooms) out another door. We were on the 6th floor, so there was no noise from activity along the Riverwalk. This was a clean, very comfortable room. Comfortable bed having turndown service each evening. A relatively small pool sits in a center courtyard and is a nice place to relax after walking around the Riverwalk. The location is outstanding ... just exit the back door of the hotel and you are on the Riverwalk with all the restaurants and attractions.

We chose not to rent a car upon arrival via air in San Antonio since everything we planned to do was in the downtown area, an easy walk from the Omni La Mansion. Taxi fare from airport to hotel ranges $24-$29. The hotel offers only valet parking (and it is relatively expensive), so we saved a little money by not having a car. I would highly recommend this if your travels include only downtown San Antonio.

We did not try the spa or eat in any of the hotel restaurants as there are many places with varied menus along the Riverwalk within easy walking distance. The concierge was particularly helpful with directions and information. Upon departure we rented a car from Avis which has a location only a few blocks from the hotel. For your information ... Enterprise delivers the car to hotel.

Room Tip: Recommend rooms with a river view for more atmosphere. Higher floors will minimize noise from the a...

I stay in a lot of hotels and this one takes top place for its wonderful staff. During a 10 day stay I never had to open a door as one of the staff was always there to open it for me. I never passed a maid or bell staff who didn't inquire if I was enjoying my stay. During each meal the mgr walked around and inquired how everything was. I watched them shampoo the outside walkways and staff polishing the brass and washing the windows. They offer a turndown service and they brought in a bucket of ice each night. I know these are little things but collectively it made for a wonderful stay. The hotel itself is very classy and of the three riverwalk hotels I've stayed at definitely the best.
If I had a complaint it would be the lack of an in room safe and the small closet but I'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: a river view room would be a nice splurge

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Omni La Mansion del Rio in San Antonio, Texas. What a wonderful experience, to say the least! Though this hotel is older, this is what ads to the charm and character of the hotel. The rooms have been updated in such a way that it keeps with the original style of the hotel. Above all and most outstanding was the impeccable customer service. The manager, weight staff, concierge, everyone who works at this hotel is well trained and genuinely outstanding at customer service. They made us feel as if we were home!

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the Riverwalk. It was great fun to listen to and watch the people come and go. P...

Took the family out for 2 day weekend trip and absolutely love this hotel. Valet gave the kids nifty goody bags that kept them busy for a while! We got a room on the second floor facing the pool. The rooms have back doors that lead to the outside back hallways which are perfect for gazing, and watching the kids swim. Loved the pool, saltwater! The hotel inside is absolutely huge! The beds are comfortable as well, coming from someone with a bad back too. The rooms also have fitness and weight bags for use too. Very cool. Walk out the back side of the hotel and you're smack dab in the riverwalk!

Room Tip: Try Ritas on the River, just outside the hotel's back door. Consider using the parking garage a...

We always stay here on the river - the rooms facing the Riverwalk are romantic and comfortable and the service from the hotel is excellent. Parking is excellent. You may have to fight for a good room during peak times, but most of the rooms are good. Las Canarias, the restaurant hotel is superb and romantic.

Everything was great at Omni La Mansion.... We stayed this past weekend on Sept. 15 for a one night stay... The hotel, location of the preoperty right on the riverwalk was awesome , accomadations was excellent , easy access to the Mokara spa hotel across the riverwalk. Great view of both ends of the hotel. Great service by the front desk staff, very nice turndown by the night housekkeeping with the little box of figures that is given. Recieve our select guest beverage coffee on time.. Morsel is a small little coffee shop with limited items... Its ok for the small space they are working with... Pool and garden was very nice ... Restaurant didnt try it but a little pricey but it look very classy... Bar was great also.... Great breakfast buffet at the ostra restuarant ... Michael FB manager and staff did a great job ... Even when my friend fell on the steps of the bridge while raining and he took notice of the incident and brought her a clean towel and icy hot packed for the pain... No complaints on my part.. Valet is $23 take it your car will be safe instead of leaving it across the street. Several stores, majestic theater and area attraction within walking distance... Overall I would rank it top 5 best stays in san antoino....

My wife and I stayed at Omni La Mansion on the 1st of Sept and we loved it! The architecture resembles an old Spanish hacienda that was beautifully renovated. After asking a few questions, we learned that it used to be an old Spanish boarding school. The location could not be better and I believe it even beats The Mokara which is the number one choice according to tripadvisor reviews and I believe is worthy to mention that the Mokara is right across the river in front of La Mansion. The only complain I have is that some common areas like the hallways and elevators are equipped with A/C and it gets rather warm, once you get in your rooms everything is fine. Every room has a shared balcony or private balcony and are very nicely decorated. Overall was a great experience with a great location with plenty of things to do and places to eat! DO NOT be mislead by the fact that this hotel is ranked in the 30s on tripadvisor, I almost did but sure glad I didn't!!
