“Great location, nice hotel, terrific staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013 via mobile

We did a fair bit of reading and mulling before choosing this hotel. I am not sure what tipped the scales in the end but I am glad we came here. The location is ideal, the views pleasing and the staff goes out of their way to be helpful. Get a Riverwalk view if you can, the higher floors have a nice vantage point. The room is attractive, very clean, and well laid out.

The two hotel bars are terrific. Tequila lovers should spend some time in The Worm (it was the best Margherita I had ever had). The acoustic music out on the Riverwalk is a nice addition to an early Saturday evening. The food at the Worm comes from next door (not from the Hyatt) and was not as tasty as the snacks we had at the lobby bar. Located beside Q restaurant, the food and beverage quality is far higher at the lobby bar than pretty much any other similar hotel I have tried. Stop for happy hour and get a $2 brisket taco. The view is pretty great too. Service in all of the establishments was very good.

The rooftop pool is nothing to get excited about - small and not surprisingly full of children. The view isn't leveraged at all and that was a disappointment.

Parking is extra and located across the street. It was a bit of a hassle when we arrived as we were not allowed to leave the car in the driveway for even a few minutes during the check in period. Valet parking is available for an additional charge.

I really like the location of this Hotel because I really enjoy the river walk. Go downstairs and right or left you are on the river walk. Walk through the middle of the hotel and across the street you are at the Alamo. Pluses. For the room include a Chargepoint bedside charger to charge whatever you need. On the other side is a iHome charger alarm clock all very convenient. The TV audio ports are accessible if you want to watch something on ur laptop or iPad. The desk is perfect with charging for ur laptop built in. The bed is comfy and well designed. As for the minuses my room is supposed to be handicap accessible...the only feature that made it that was the doorbell...there were no handrails in the bathroom. I have traveled with my Dad who is wheelchair bound and this room would not work. A wheelchair would not fit through the bathroom door and there are no handrails or pulls for the toilet. I didn't like bathroom tub or shower head. They spent so much money on the remodel but put in a really cheap shower head and kept the old tub with a stopper that didn't work. The bath did not drain properly. Overall I loved it though cause the best fresh guacamole you can find is right out the front door on the river walk.

The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The location can't be beat...beautiful lobby and right next to all of the riverwalk action. Our room appeared clean but WOW was the phone and alarm clock DUSTY! That made me wonder what else was not really clean in the room. It's not difficult to dust off the phone and alarm clock...other than that it was a nice stay and I would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I stayed here during a work conference the first week of June. We were very pleased with the level of service received throughout the hotel. The room itself was nicely appointed and very clean. The housekeeping staff was efficient and professional. The location was my favorite aspect of the hotel. Walk out the door and you are right on the Riverwalk, which is why you come here in the first place!
The only concern we had with this hotel involves handicap accessibility. The door handle on the bathroom in the room is difficult to operate for those in wheelchairs, especially if there is any weakness in the arms.

Green Features: All of the toiletries have only a small amount in them. Be sure to ask housekeeping for extra shampoo and lotion if you bring your own.

I visited San Antonio between 2nd-8th June 2013 for a conference. The hotel being very close to the Convention Center, which is where the conference was scheduled, I booked my stay here. The hotel is right over the riverwalk and there are numerous restaurants along the riverwalk.

The hotel lobby was quite impressive. My room was on the 6th floor. The room had a lobby view, not very impressed with the view as leaving the drapes open leads to your room visible to others from the other rooms/elevator access area. Also my room was right next to the elevator area, so was rather noisy. Also, since my room was facing the bar right below, some of the nights were noisy because of basketball matches on TV or revelry in general.

The breakfast was standard continental stuff, quite alright. I also got a standard free wifi access, which was good for accessing emails.

The room was quite spacious with a comfortable bed and a choice of pillows. The bathroom amenities was also impressive. Other standard amenities include a tea/coffee maker, iron board-iron, in-room safe, several TV channels, alarm clock etc. I did not use the gym or the pool facilities.

The check-in and check-out was very smooth, hardly took a few minutes.

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the Alamo and ones on the higher floor.

We booked this place for an anniversary getaway. I stay in hotels fairly frequently and on most accounts the aesthetics of the place were fairly pleasing. It offers a good location and the beds are fairly comfortable with the standard comforts such as coffee in the room, hairdryer, etc. Nothing over and above. However, during our stay, we left a fairly inexpensive item closed up in the ashtray of the vehicle. When the item was stolen, the hotel's only response was that they could ask the valet's but stolen property within the vehicles are not their responsibility. In further questioning, within the garage, there are not cameras which keep view of the vehicles. The hotel simply does not make reasonable efforts to maintain the safety of the occupants and their property. To provide another example, while keys are required to use the elevators to access hotel floors, only one person in the elevator has to enter the key while the rest ride. NOT secure. Also, the pool is tiny...more the size of a hot tub. High cost of parking, nickel and diming for every thing possible (bottle of water in room is $5) and extraordinary room prices are not well deserved for this place. WILL NOT stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure you are not on the 11th floor, people in and out to the pool constantly.
