“Nice and clean, but missing free Wi-Fi in the room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I spent two nights here in a king room. The room was very comfortable and spacious, but no free Wi-Fi in the room. The fitness room is on the 11th floor and is very well equipped. I was traveling on business and got the government rate, so I believe I had a great value. Easy access to the riverwalk was a plus. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant is very pricey, but there is also an Einstein Bagels right in the lobby so that provides a lower price option.

The location is good, being on the Riverwalk and close to downtown. The rooms are big and stylish. The only issue with the hotel is that it's big and some of the infrastructure isn't really in place to support guest when the hotel is full. For example, the breakfast area is small and the elevator wait times can be very long when at capacity, as it was when we were there. Note - self park is right across from the hotel, so you can choose that and save a few bucks.

Room Tip: Away from the elevators - it can be really loud.

We stayed here in late December and were fortunate to get a room overlooking the Riverwalk, which was lit up with Christmas lights. The room was very nice and our price included a full breakfast buffet. I would check several websites for the best "deals" but we found the best offer on the hotel's own website: three nights for the price of two and this included breakfast. Be sure and ask if they can give you a room overlooking the Riverwalk; might even be worth paying a little extra to get it. The only complaint is that the weather was unudually cold and the lobby and open restaurant were also quite cold. The rooms, however, were toasty warm. Service throughout was excellent.

Hello again,

This hotel is right in the middle of the Riverwalk. Comfy BEDS! Great view of the Alamo. Wonderful service and bar/restaurant. Close to many of the best restaurants on the river walk. We were there for the Alamo Bowl and the Oregon St. team was staying there too!

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view of the Alamo. You won't regret it.

We stayed at this hotel last week for a trade show. We stayed on the 10th floor and our view was of the city, not the River Walk, but that wasn't a big deal to me.

The fitness center was great. They have treadmills, bikes, free weights, etc. There were clean towels available and fresh water. I did not use the pool as the temperatures were quite chilly. I have seen other reviews that say the pool is small, but it IS a rooftop pool and the hotel is a downtown hotel, so I would never expect a huge pool.

The room was large and very comfortable. FYI - there is no microwave in the room but there is a tiny coffee maker. The fridge didn't work, but we saw no need to complain about it since we weren't using it. The housekeeping staff was friendly and came very early to our room (about 8:30am) three out of our five day stay. The room was not quite as clean some days as it was others. For example, the night table wasn't dusted and the vanity in the bathroom was only wiped down around the sink, but these are not earth shattering events. The bathroom has a vanity, toilet and shower/tub. I prefer to have the vanity outside the bathroom, but it didn't prove to be a problem. The shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap were very nice. They also provided a small tube of Aqua Fresh. The temperature was a bit hard to regulate, but we figured it out after a night. Bed was comfortable and the linens were clean. Pillows are VERY soft, so if you like a firm pillow, you might want to bring your own. There was a large closet and a safe in the room. Security is great in the hotel. Guests must insert their room key in a slot in the elevator before they can push the button for their floor.

The River Walk is literally right outside the back door of the hotel. You take a separate elevator to get to it. There are a few shops at the River Walk level. One of them is a jewelry store that had some beautiful pieces. They also have an ice cream shop, a spa, a gift shop and a bar on the River Walk level.

Staff was friendly and courteous.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Stayed New Year's Eve 2012. Had a room with a balcony view of the River Walk. This is misleading. It's a balcony view of the atrium, you can see about 2 square feet of the River Walk. Refrigerator did not work. When reported, hotel staff said they couldn't fix or replace it. Lots of hot water but they have a $1.99 showerhead on the shower....you'd find better in Motel 6. Automated TV checkout did not work....showed the previous occupant...poor information security. Be careful....they'll tack charges on your card without your acknowledgement. Scrutinize your bill and credit card charges closely. Would highly recommend their restaurant the "Q". Sent a written complaint to the "room manager" cited on the bill. Never received acknowledgement. This hotel does not live up to the reputation of its name.

Room Tip: Do not select a balcony room is you have to stay here....it is a poor value for what they charge.

Stayed 3 nights over the thanksgiving weekend. Hotel room was great, lots of room, comfortable bed, clean. We had a partial view of the river walk area which was nice ... Lots of lights, very pretty at night. Breakfast buffet was included with our rate and it was amazing. Great food, selection..made to order omelettes. Staff were friendly, helpful. We had no issues at all. Great stay would highly recommend.
Oe thing ..we asked about walking to a number of places and were told every time it was too far. King William area for example..is walkable, and you can walk it on the river walk! I guess people on Texas don't like to walk!
