“Great family getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

I absolutely loved this place for my kids (ages 8-12). The pool was very nice, but hard to get a lawn chair if you don't get there early. Many activities throughout the day for the kids to participate in. The breakfast buffet was great! We did eat dinner in the Springhouse Restaurant and it was not the greatest meal...nothing better than a Luby's dinner, but a lot more expensive. The second night, they had a movie on the lawn. They passed out blankets and free popcorn. The lawn spaced filled quickly, so go early. We grabbed a pizza in the general store, and I had brought cookies, fruit, chips from home, so we enjoyed a nice picnic dinner. This was so relaxing and a great day to unwind after a full day of swimming! Looking for a quiet romantic get away, during the summer, more a family style resort with most activities geared toward elementary aged kids! I give it a four star only because the restaurant was not that great and we need a room with two doubles for our family...but I HATE double beds....these need to be changed to two queens.

Room Tip: If you can get a ground floor over looking the lawn or the playground, it is nice, you can open your...

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your recent Hill Country visit. You'll be glad to know that we have recently added 200 beach chairs to our pool decks, so you can sleep in a little later and still get a chair!

Your idea of grabbing a freshly made pizza from the General Store for movie night is really brilliant, and a great way to avoid waiting for dinner!

Hope to welcome you again very soon.

We stayed at the Hill Country Hyatt over Easter weekend. It is perfectly setup for a family trip with little kids. The egg hunt, craft projects and all the other little activities are a great way of keeping the kiddos busy during the day. Add in the lazy river, walking trails and bikes available and you have a resort that you never have to leave.

I would say that the prices are pretty high and the rooms are slightly dated. But, we'll probably go back.

We have been to the Hyatt Hill Country several times over the years now, and we have always had a great time. I think it is best for kids that are old to enough to swim well, but before they turn ten. The activities seem to be geared mostly to this age group.

I think Hyatt Hill Country is feeling the pressure from some other resorts in the area (La Cantera and even Hyatt Lost Pines), and the lazy river just isn't as nice as you will find at the newer Lost Pines (except for the mature trees). However, if your kids fall into this age category, and you can find a good deal, you will enjoy yourself.

This hotel is right next to Sea World. I love this hotel. I've stayed there so many times. If you have kids, this is the perfect place to stay! The pool is nice, and there's a great lazy river. If you stay at this property, they will also give you access to Hyatt Wild Oaks Ranch, with is a couple of blocks away and just gives you more access to more pools. They really focus on customer service here, and if you're not happy they try to redeem themselves. The first time I visited, my husband and I seriously thought about buying a Hyatt timeshare. That's how much we liked it.

Room Tip: Every room I've ever had has been nice and exactly what I've looked for.

Memorial day weekend getaway with the family, including a 3 yr old. Nice grounds, plenty of family friendly activities and staff. But there is not a lot of space, everything and everywhere is crowded. Pool is not big enough for the number of people they expect to use it. Same for restaurant, lawn, fire pit, sand beach, etc. The staff is very nice and always seemed willing to help. We had a king bed in the 600 wing, 3rd floor, quiet and enjoyable. Our travel companions stayed in the 200 wing with 2 queen beds and complained of neighbors partying all night even had to call the manager to ask them to quiet down at 1:30am. Rooms are clean and a/c was plenty cold. Rooms could use updating and deep cleaning, lots of dust in vents and nooks. Nothing major but would expect mores attention to detail for the price. So close to Sea World, right across the freeway. A huge plus for us, a major reason we chose this hotel. The breakfast tacos and coffee at the pool bar were delicious and a great price for a filling breakfast. Refrigerator was nice to keep drinks and leftovers. We used the free laundromat one evening, paid only a small fee for soap. Wi-fi was free too, so we face-timed family back home each night. There is a McDonalds and a gas station just up the road. We enjoyed our stay. Would not say no to coming back again.

Room Tip: 600 wing 3rd floor, room 3617 has a king bed, quiet balcony.

As you pull in to the Hyatt property you pass or weave around about 6 huge apartment complexes... not a surround i would find spa like. Checked in and paid up the $17/night valet as self parking would require a shuttle to be reasonable. (even though the property has room for close parking) Paid the "special rate" of $300! as we were attending a group function ($400 is std. rate) Room was fair at first impression but then we realized the a/c blows warm air (typical in hotels), plumbing fixtures are wobbling around and loose, and wi-fi is WEAK (non-existant). Went to pool (yes, pretty nice) and had a fun time with kids. Upon returning and winding up the evening I laid down in the bed to find i was sleeping on what felt like a concrete slab with exposed springs poking up here and there. Pillows were lumpy and compressed quickly into what felt like a damp bail of hay. After one of the worst nights sleep in years, I woke up early looking for coffee. Pay up, $300 does not get you coffee, or a banana. I packed up and left early...a real dis-appointment.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere...
