Description: Built as an addition to the original hotel and later remodeled by San Antonio architect Atlee B. Ayres in 1912, the Colonial Room Restaurant reflects the prevailing neoclassical style of its time. Decades of elaborate balls and parties have been hosted in this room.Among the celebrities who have dined here are Presidents Grant and McKinley, Robert E. Lee, and French actress Sarah Bernhardt. The Colonial Room Restaurant's famous mango ice cream was served at both of President Clinton’s inaugurations. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Colonial Room Restaurant features a fabulous noontime brunch and traditional entrees such as prime rib au jus and lamb shank with linguini. Don't miss the popular Sunday brunch buffet, which tastes even better at a table in the garden courtyard.

“If staying at Menger Hotel give this place a try”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

On our vacation, we made reservations to stay at The Menger Hotel. After the hotel gave us a 20% discount card for their restaurant, we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised with this place. Our server Sigrid was very friendly, courteous and checked on us frequently. She made great recommendations which we followed. My wife and I both had the chicken champinon (not sure about spelling) and our 7 yr. old went with none other than a hotdog...we also ordered a bottle of wine. Our daughter quite naturally liked her hotdog and we enjoyed our dinner as well. Overall, for the quality of food and price of meals, it's not bad at all.. You'd probably think you'd be spending more than you do by just walking into the restaurant area. Granted the whole building is a historical site, so don't expect to be walking into the "Wynn" in Vegas.

Beautiful dining room with a nice menu. Enjoyed the French Onion soup and a steak. No prime rib was available....boo. Great service!

“We had a group of 12...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2014

While at a conference, I wanted to find a nice spot for lunch for my states attendees. I checked what was within walking distance on TripAdvisor and found this place. We made a reservation for our group of 12. They were ready for us (once we found the restaurant inside the hotel). We all ended up simply ordering the buffet. Our groups tastes range from foodies to one who only eats a very limited menu, but there was something for everyone. I enjoyed the pasta bar and the bread pudding! Buffet was approx $23 a person. It took awhile to run each of our credit cards (which is to be expected). Afterward, we walked across the street for a group photo in front of the Alamo and had plenty of time to spare to get back to our conference.

“Menger Hotel house restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2014

Good food, just a little pricey. It had to be one of the most beautiful places in the hotel. The staff was very nice, some a litle slow, but it is fine dining after all.

“Good Sunday Brunch but slow service. ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

Stayed at hotel and ate Sunday Brunch and Monday breakfast. Sunday was busy but Monday breakfast was empty and still slow service even with four employees in the corner one was checking her phone and we had to wait for our coffee and food but after that service was very good. Not many people eat in the evening.
