“Great stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

This hotel is located in a beautiful old bank. Although it isn't directly on the Riverwalk, the access is quick and easy. The happy hour cannot be beat! If you wanted to, you could make a meal out of the free food they provide...it is the same every night though, I think. The breakfast is really nice as well. The only complaint is that the carpets in the rooms are getting pretty dingy/old. Oh, the rooftop pool & hot tub provided relaxation with a view!

I highly recommend this hotel for vacation travelers, and especially families. I can't say enough about the location of this hotel- they've built a special access to the Riverwalk from the hotel's basement level. It's extremely convenient and really great if you happen to stay out late. What's even better is that the hotel is about 1 minute from the real hustle and bustle, which means you don't have drunk vacationers or random people congregating outside the hotel, as we saw with other hotels that are positioned right in the heart of the Riverwalk. It's also walking distance from The Alamo and a longer but comfortable walk to Market Square (El Mercado).

Our room was extremely clean, and exactly what we expected for the price we paid. Not fancy, but a great place for sleeping! The hotel is converted from a bank, so it does feel a bit like being in an office building when you're in the lobby or hallways, but I thought it was neat (there's still a bank vault in the basement!)

If you're traveling with a car, parking is $20 per day at the hotel, valet style, which we thought was very reasonable for city parking. If you feel the need to recoup that cost, the hotel does a great hot breakfast AND a free snack time each evening that includes 3 free drinks for adults and a variety of hot and cold snack foods.

I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Request a room on a higher floor for great views of the city or the Riverwalk.

I have stayed there once and decided to stay there the second time because of its overall service. For those with family, I highly recommend this place if you're one of those that spends a lot of money eating out. By staying here, you will save money on eating out with full breakfast and dinner. All you need would be snacks for you children throughout the day. I know I didn't eat out at all the first time I stayed and that's exactly what brought me back. The location is perfect and the facility is really huge and nice. I enjoyed the indoor pool during a cool night. The outdoor pool/hot tub is really relaxing as we'll with plenty of privacy. I highly recommend it to family and friends and now I'm recommending it to you as well.

Room Tip: Rooms in the San Fernando Tower seem to be quieter & private.

This hotel is great with free drinks and food in the evening, free breakfast and free wifi. The rooms in the San Fernando tower were huge and perhaps a little too big as they looked a bit sparce with the furniture that was in there... Better to be too big than too small though I guess!
The position is great with an exit directly onto the Riverwalk and only 2 minutes walk to the busy part with all the restaurants and bars. The Riverwalk is definitely worth a visit as it really has a nice buzz about the area and this hotel is perfectly placed to enjoy it
Overall, a good hotel with some nice free extras and you get to see a used and disused bank vault in the basement with massively thick vault doors!

This was a very nice place and in a great location. Our room was really comfortable with the added bonus of a great view overlooking the riverwalk. The staff was quite helpful and very friendly. We would absolutely stay here again on our next trip to San Antonio.

Well maintained older hotel!! Historic features have been preserved while modern features make it very comfortable!! Rooms are spacious, although outside noise could be heard at night. Excellent access to the Riverwalk. Morning breakfast and evening social are FANTASTIC.

Drawbacks - elevator service can be slow/crowded during times around morning breakfast and evening social.

Bedroom is alright for the price you pay but service is a notch better. Was given free breakfast and 3 beverages during kickoff (5:30pm daily) with some snacks. Overall a good package and a block away from nearby river cruise ticket station.
