“a bit average but fun”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

Had a good night but had been to pete's dueling piano bar in Austin the week before. The piano players at petes seemed better. At Howl at the Moon there was more use of a full band which made it seem more like a typical pub than a piano bar. Still a good night out in San Antonio.
Get in early if you want your message on the mirror, its only going to get more expensive.

“Crowded and no seating available”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

A group of us went to this dueling piano bar on a weekend evening after dinner. We were glad that we had free admission coupons ($10 per person), because it was very crowded and there was no seating. We stayed about an hour, but were really tired of standing. You could find a seat outside but could not hear the music out there. We thought the first 2 singers were far better than the next group of singers. There were some tables but they were $130 and $140!! There were some extra chairs at one of the tables, but it was a big no-no to move them - even with the permission of the people that had rented the tables. I'm not sure why they make it this uncomfortable to stay!

“Simply awful!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

My husband and I were looking forward to spending time at this club which we have visited before but in Orlando several years back. In Orlando, the pianists not only could play the piano exceptionally well but they also could sing. Here, the pianists were quite talented as long as they were playing the piano or other instruments ( some played guitar too) , but the vocals were simply AWFUL and grew worse not better as the night went on. Everyone inside was sooo drunk, though, that patrons didn't notice, I'm convinced. The partying of patrons must explain the positive reviews for this location too because really, the music could not have been much worse! We paid a hefty cover charge too ( $7 or maybe $8 a person) which only made the experience worse. As I write this, I am listening to TV's " The X Factor" and I am thinking how Simon Cowell would tear this place to shreds with good cause. Save your money!!!

“Get's packed-go early!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

We landed here around 7:00 it was fun and the guys were good, but its just a little corny to me. Not too much into piano-singing. We stayed for a few hours and the place was so packed people were literally fighting for our table when we got up to leave. It can be fun if you are into paying to hear your suggestion. Didnt quite see the reason for paying money to have a singer write your Message on a mirror ! and the amount kept going up with each message. Not my kind of place but obviously was for others!

“Standing room only- buy more chairs people”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

First time here on 09/22/12. After paying a 10.00 per person cover we discover no place to sit!! Small group of tables and chairs crowed into the middle of the room around a small stage and two pianos. All full this left a large area in the back of the room for standing only, no place to put a drink. Music was good and I'm sure the show would have been also but NO PLACE to sit a drink down. There is a lovely 3rd story patio but you cant see the show or hear the music from there.
