I was very impressed with this one-year old property. The Contessa is located on a quieter part of the Riverwalk, only minutes away from all the activity. The best way to describe this place is that it is trendy, "boutique-y" (I made that word up) without all the attitude you get at a place like the W. Decor is very nice - reminds me of a Ritz or Four Seasons. Whoever did the interior design must be amazing. Room was quite spacious and comfortable. Location was good as well - there's a Riverboat tour nearby as well as the charming La Villita arts village. We got a GREAT deal on Priceline for $100/night for a weekend stay. However, I would be willing to pay up to $250/night to stay here. Totally worth it.

A friend and I just returned from a two-day getaway to San Antonio, this past Thanksgiving weekend where we stayed at the beautiful Hotel Contessa, right on the Riverwalk. The Hotel is magnificent and the service was above and beyond our expectations..The suites are roomy, quiet, impeccably clean and the beds are comfy and luxurious. Access to the Riverwalk was just outside the Hotel door and we felt safe walking at all times, even at night.....From the moment we entered the lobby (late) on our first night until the moment we checked out two days later, the staff and I mean the entire staff, front desk, restaurant staff, housekeeping et al....could not have been more accomodating, friendly and gracious....Our suite was on the Riverwalk side and was as quiet as could be.....I would return to the Hotel Contessa in a heartbeat if only to enjoy the fantastic breakfasts on the patio at Las Ramblas. What a treat!!!!! And again the service was outstanding. What more can I say, if you are planning a visit to San Antonio, make the Hotel Contessa the place you stay.....Christine J. Cleveland, Ohio

I stayed at the Contessa for a conference in November. The idea of a suite hotel was a new one to me ... and sure enough, my `room' could have accommodated three couples! (two double beds, plus a sofa bed). It was well-appointed, with some of those little extras (like an ironing board) you sometimes have to ask for.

Breakfast and lunch in the hotel restaurant were good food, and plenty of it (as were the conference refreshments, actually). The bar opens out onto the riverwalk, from where it's an easy stroll to other restaurants, bars, shops, and attractions.

I'd certainly stay there again.

great hotel in the quiet area of riverwalk. All suite hotel with very nice furniture, beds and decor. The Contessa claims to be the newest hotel on the Riverwalk. 1 year old.
