“First time stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013 via mobile

Knowing a location near downtown would be the most ideal, the choice of Crockett Hotel made the most sense. Room was very clean, quiet, and comfortable. Noise from outside was non-existant, beds very comfortable, and maid service efficient. The complimentary breakfast was delicous. Parking was on-site and reasonably priced. You are less than two blocks from The Alamo and Riverwalk is very close. Highly recommend the Crockett Hotel for a great stay!!

I love the building, it's proximity to the Alamo and the River Walk. The staff were wonderful, and the rooms were nicely and tastefully decorated. A nice touch was the bathrobe hanging in the closet if you needed one! The rooms were different to those of the usual chain hotels. Breakfast was good too. Would stay here again.

First upon check in when we arrived we waited nearly 15 minutes to be greeted by the concierge at the front desk. Upon finding our reservation we booked a room with a view, or so we thought. The view was of the lobby area and not of the San Antonio area.

If you valet park your car PLEASE call at least an hour ahead of your scheduled departure. We called and called and the phone kept ringing and ringing.... We'd call the front desk and no one would pick up.

The rooms are outdated and worn out. The furniture was new back when the hotel was likely built (100+ years ago) and it shows. The bathroom curtain was nearly ripped off the hangers.... how cheap are shower curtains to replace???

The breakfast was very plain. Tortilla, eggs, some hame, and cheese.... or a waffle. with an assortment of packaged bread products and lukewarm beverages.

The room's AC worked well as it was hot this time of year. Thats the only plus of the stay. It is close to the riverwalk and Alamo, but so are the major chain hotels who know how to serve travelers and make you want to come back.

This is a hotel is you're strapped for cash and have nowhere else to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at other local hotels are quite amazing.....

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Crockett hotel.

We strive everyday to welcome our guests and to provide with a clean, comfortable and convenient home away from home while visiting San Antonio.

We will certainly share with our staff your comments about the delays your experienced and the condition of your guestroom. The Crockett hotel was fully renovated in 2006 and we continue to do ongoing updates. This year we have already updated to new LG televisions, and lighting in the guestroom and will be updating our bedding/linens later in 2013.

We never wish to hear when a guest leaves us, dissatisfied with their stay. Our staff reads the reviews we receive regularly and will use that feedback to improve our level of product and service for the future. Thank you again for helping provide such valuable feedback.

Right beside the Alamo and near Riverside walk, a good place to be. Service is good, both front desk and valet parking (you can also get the car yourself if you want to). Rooms need some renovation. Too few electrical outlets and in bad shape, very old dirty windows. Good breakfast in a sometimes crowded room.

Their rooms need to keep up with today's traveler. Outlets hard to find and reach for charging all your electric needs. Chipping paint and gouges in the closet doors are numerous. Basic breakfast with dry scrambled eggs. Nice pool area (across outside from the entry). Kept water and tea available for guests. Close to the local attractions.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room not with windows facing the lobby. Huge noise factor.

Thank you for writing a review of your visit to the Crockett hotel.

Just this week, we have begun installing new desk lamps throughout the hotel that provide better lighting of the workspace at our desks, and also provide additional a/c outlets for your convenience. We know this will be a nice improvement for our guests.

We constantly work through our rooms as our maintenance and painting staff provided ongoing service to repair and refurbish our guest rooms. We will address the room issues you pointed out immediately.

Our goal is to always provide a clean, comfortable and convenient location for our guests, in a historic, boutique setting. Thank you again for being our guest and providing valuable feedback on your stay.

The hotel is a registered historical landmark which is fun, the location could not be closer to the Alamo and is within walking distance of the river walk and other attractions. Room was clean, front staff was helpful. Parking is $18.50 a night so build that in to costs. Breakfast is to be expected. My biggest complaint was the very noisy A/C and the fact there was no skirt or anything hiding the box spring. Just odd. Overall very good for couples, small families and business travel.

Location! Location! Location! The lobby is beautiful- not glitzy: old world - some rooms look like apartments from the lobby that look down into the lobby. Shutters are on the windows and rooms have wonderful air condition.! Very suitable for the surrounding area. Wonderful complementary breakfast with lots of choices. Rooms are clean and comfy, not overkill but tasteful. Location is amazing. Hotel is right across from the Alamo, imax theatre that features the Alamo presentation, the Riverwalk with it's Mall and river with dining and shopping along side of it. Special barges for trips on the river taking you under bridges and along buildings that were part of history. It is a few blocks away from the 700 ft tower "The Americas" with revolving restaurant and 360 degree observation deck. If you buy lunch or dinner there you get the observation deck for free. Reasonable prices and excellent food. At night the neighbourhood feels safe but there is a nice lounge in the hotel with great service for you to relax and unwind. Staff is very courteous and attentive. Horse drawn "Cinderella" carriages are outside on the street with mini lights on them at night so it is a very special treat. I will definitely be back here.
