Decided to go to The Lodge for our 15th Anniversary dinner. This place did not disappoint. Finding the drive way into the restaurant was a little strange - a more obvious sign would be useful for that. But otherwise - this is a mansion that has been converted into a fine dining restaurant. The rooms are very intimate with only a couple tables per room. This meant we didn't really know how many people were there, so it did not feel crowded or busy which added to a relaxing atmosphere. I had informed the staff ahead of time that this was for our anniversary, and from the moment we arrived we were greeted with "happy anniversary" and compliments. We were even given complimentary glass of champagne at the end of the meal.
You can choose from a 4 course menu or the 8 course chef's tasting menu. We opted for the 4 course (if you choose 8 course, everyone at the table must choose it). We were able to try different things this way and you get an appetizer, salad, main, and dessert. They also include an amuse-bouche and a complimentary chef's plate midway - so there is plenty of food. We were stuffed by the end of the meal. Service was great, not too rushed but not a long wait between courses either. The food itself - very elegant, good quality. I had pork, my husband had duck; both cooked perfectly. The only issue with the food was a couple of my husband's dishes were a touch over-salted, although not inedible - probably more salt than our preference. Dessert was fabulous. Overall, this was an excellent place for a special occasion, and they did make efforts to keep it special for us. I would definitely go back for another special occasion, or recommend it to others wanting a cozy yet upscale experience with great food.
