“Great Propert!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I spent two days in San Antonio on vacation with my family. The website doesn't do the Property justice. Not only was the room very large but the amenities were outstanding. The indoor/outdoor pool was the best. They heat the water so even though we had rain and cooler weather we were still able to enjoy the pool. Kids loved the water slides and lazy river. We did try to eat on site one evening but due to under staffing we were forced to make alternate plans. I would stay here longer next time so I could spend more time relaxing by the pool.

We went Thursday to Sunday and booked a one bedroom. Everything was ready when we arrived (early), and they weren't too picky when I accidentally checked out late. We have a young daughter, and this place is perfect for the three of us. It is VERY family friendly - with a heated pool, lazy river, water slides, and plenty of non-water activities. There are many activities listed on the schedule each day, including one that I especially loved, the Zoomagination. They brought live animals to the facility for all of us to see and (lightly) touch.

The staff was amazing and very accommodating. Oh, and you have access to the Hyatt resort next door (but we didn't need it).

We just came back from the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch on Spring break. It was very hard to leave there to come back to Michigan. The property is simply gorgeous in every direction you look. 2 pools and the rattlesnake river which is an long snaking floating river you ride on inner tubes. There are PLENTY of lounge chairs, cabanas and even a hammock or two in a secluded cabana with curtains. The mile long nature/jogging trail was a great way to work off some of the wonderful food we had in San Antonio. The room was a 2 bedroom and was huge and well appointed, but we particularly liked the private patio with the multitude of sitting locations and the comfy furniture. We've staying before in places where the patio furniture was terrible to sit in, but this furniture we could have lounged in all day. Everywhere on the property there are amazing places to sit and relax or talk with friends. The nightly entertainment was welll-planned and we enjoyed the every night fires in the firepits. The location is 20 minutes from downtown easily reached by freeway. We wished we could have stayed longer as we seemed to keep discovering neat little places on the property that we would have liked to enjoy more. Also, the staff could not have been friendlier. We would go back there in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: I would not choose a corner room unit again as the coming and going of the other group sharing the c...

Just came back from here -week long vacation and was so great
Place was very nice but staffs are set this place for best
Very friendly staff everywhere and they are there to help you anything and everything that you need
I was looking for big bow (Texas style that we can't get from CA ) Rudy at conciege went out of her way to research and found the bow maker and deliver to me -she was so sweet
They had ton of family friendly event -had 3different egg hunt for different age kids, love their zoom agitation which is very educational wild life animal program -we were there for week and had 3times while we stay if you go there don't miss it out it, it is really awesome opportunity for young kids to see and touch the animals that we normally don't see in our everyday life
Pool was nice and warm even lazy river too especially indoor pool was big plus on windy stormy day
We love that we have access to kids club anytime of the day and we can just hang out -draw, do the fun projects... And staff was very welcoming our young kids
This hotel have movie night every day which was nice way to ending our day
Room was nice - little thin wall that we can here next door but this is very normal in time share property
New towels were given everyday which was nice that we don't need to call for new set
There was fiesta with$5 taco (3tacos for $5) and $5 beer and family dancing - the guy who's in charge of entertaining (I think he's name was CJ)never left dance floor for people and kids, they work so hard to make that night fun for family
Only one thing that I want to point out - bed wasn't comfortable Asa much as other brand and no down brankit (brankit was too thin)
I love this hotel and staff - we will defenally go back to see their friendly staffs
great job haytt wild oak see you very soon!

We rented a two bedroom villa as an Interval exchange. We purposefully rented it Friday to Friday and arrived Saturday so that we could go right to the room without delay. Surprise! We still had to wait for them to do a final inspection. 20 minutes later we were allowed in. The villa was fine. Two rooms, one with a king the other, two doubles. We had a pull out sofa for the 2 year old as well. One thing we noticed right away was the near complete lack of cell service when in the room. Frustrating. The next was the lack of room service. Unacceptable. If you have ever traveled with a 2 year old you know that room service may be the only relaxing dinner the adults have.
It was not all bad. The grounds were impeccable. They had a really nice lazy river and a large indoor/outdoor combo pool with very nice water slides. The pool was heated to near bath temp which was nice because it was only 70 a couple of days.
The resort was located close to Sea World and had easy access to downtown and La Cantera. We decided after a long zoo day we were going to have dinner at the resort. Surprise! No on site restaurant. The Wild Oak expects guests to drive a mile or so across the street to the nearby Hyatt Hill Country for dining.
Little nuisances like running out of hot water in the shower or a sulphur-like smell in the bathroom added to our displeasure.
We can't recommend the resort and will not be back.

We have been coming to the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch (WOR) for a couple of years now. We own a Hyatt Time Share in Puerto Rico, but have been swapping it for San Antonio and the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch for the last couple of years now. We have to say, we love the Hyatt WOR.

First off the rooms are great. We get the three bedroom and it is more than enough room for our large family, which includes six kids. As my kids have gotten to high school age, it has been difficult to find places that can accommodate all of us, and Hyatt WOR is one of the few places that have units large enough for our family. The rooms themselves are new, the kitchens are very nice and all the appliances and furniture are in great shape.

The Hyatt WOR facilities are top notch as well; there are two pools, which they keep very nicely heated. We were unfortunate to be in San Antonio when the nation wide cold snap hit, so a couple of days the temps were in the 60s, but the pools were a toasty 85 degrees so it was really no problem for the kids. The gym is sizeable and there is also a very nice mile long walking/ running track through the countryside on the property. The Hyatt WOR has the ability to close in one of the pools so if the temperature is too cold, one of the pools essentially becomes an indoor pool.

As for activities, the manager C.J. did a great job. He ran an intensive workout class for those inclined. Also there were nightly movies for young and older kids. The Hyatt WOR also did a nice job with contest and other activities such as wine tasting and an Easter Egg hunt on Easter Sunday.

The Hyatt WOR is across the street from the Hyatt Hill Country, which is a more traditional Hyatt. The Hyatt Hill Country is upgrading its water park and while not finished looks like it will be great fun once it is completed in a couple of months. The Hyatt has a very nice spa, 27-hole golf course and other typical Hyatt amenities. Hyatt WOR can use the pools and other amenities at Hyatt Hill Country, which makes the stay that much better.

Near the Hyatt are a couple of shopping centers that have all the food and supplies you could possibly need. Coming from Chicago, we are always amazed at how much cheaper things are in San Antonio.

My only complaints is the on site restaurant is a bit expensive especially relative to the surrounding area and the food is okay not great. The only other downside is you definitely want a car to get around if you are going off property.

A quick note about San Antonio. Basically the weather is similar to what you would find in Florida, so pretty good for Spring Break season. However, San Antonio is a gem of a city. Lots to do besides the River Walk and Alamo. We like the nearby caves (Natural Bridge Caverns) and also a cute little town called Gruene. Sea World is about a mile away and Six Flags is a short drive. So lots of family friendly activity. San Antonio has tons of great restaurants especially if you like Barbecue and Mexican. Our absolute favorite is Rudy’s, which is about a mile from the Hyatt and one of my favorite barbecue places anywhere in the country. My kids like Rudy’s so much we had dinner there three times.

In conclusion, we love the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch and we also love San Antonio. a great spring break spot, especially if you have a large family.

Room Tip: If you have a large family get the three bedroom.

We stayed here three years ago in May when the temperature was in the 90's the entire time. This year we had a week when the temp averaged in the 60's. Although that was not what we expected, we still had a great time largely due to the variety of activities and accommodations at the resort.

Our kids are 7 and 9 and they didn't seem to mind the chillier weather. I think they went down the water slides close to 100 times.

We were still able to swim because the pool water is kept nice and warm. Also, on the coolest days/nights we swam in the indoor/outdoor pool which still has a water slide, splash area, and basketball hoop in the pool. For Mom or Dad there is a nearby jacuzzi and a steam room and sauna.

We also enjoyed hanging out at night where the staff lights a campfire and you can get everything you need for making s'mores right at the hotel.

There was also a good amount of activities planned for the kids and we took advantage of a couple of those too (diving for pearls in the pool and a sand castle building contest at the zero depth beach). The lazy river water is super fast-moving for a lazy river. The kids really enjoyed racing around in there while we hung out on the beach with a margarita watching them go by.

Other activities that we enjoyed despite the weather:

SeaWorld (a fun place for all ages - fed the dolphins for $6 additional which was really cool. The park was practically empty when we were there.)

Riverwalk - we went to the IMAX theater to watch a short movie about the Alamo. It was ok. Would recommend if you want to learn about the Alamo because there is no official tour guide at the Alamo. Riverboat tour is a must, and it's fun walking around even with the kids.

Eating out - the concierges at the resort are very helpful and friendly and helped us a ton. We asked for recommendations for restaurants and we especially loved the Mexican food at SoLuna, which is about a 25 minute drive but is probably the best Mexican food you'll ever have. Also, the BBQ at Rudy's is excellent. Don't bother with Bill Miller's.

Six Flags San Antonio - a little smaller than other Six Flags we have been to. Some interesting rides! One gripe was not enough staff caused slow loading and unnecessarily long lines. Probably a non-issue in peak season.

Wildlife Safari - nearly an hour drive from the resort but we thought it was worth it. Drive through and feed the animals right from your car window. Zebra, Ostrich, etc (herbivores) stick their heads right into the vehicle. The kids loved it except the Ostrich sort of freaked us all out. No prob - just shut the windows.

Overall, the resort is fantastic. Its not a beach vacation. If you can deal with that, then you will live it. Beautiful rooms and grounds, meticulously kept, great staff, and nice location with lots to do in the area.
