“It's a beautiful place -- but pricey and service is slow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

We eat here often when showing our horses at the Rose Palace -- this restaurant is at the corner of the intersection with the arena directly behind it; so very convenient. However, Scenic Loop pulls a crowd who simply enjoy the ambiance of the building and dining patios.
Not cheap - not the best food for the money. The service is incredibly slow and has not improved in the last 5 years.
But without going over to the IH 10 (which is only about 10 minutes, but a lot of traffic), it is the only option.

“Rehearsal Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Could not have been more satisfied. The staff and bartender in attendance during our dinner for 60 were superb. The lighting was subdued, the tea lights lit before we arrived, and the appetizers were out and in ample supply. When dinner was served in a buffet line style, again there was plenty for everyone and the quality of the beef tenderloin and shrimp were excellent.

We even requested a special peach cobbler for dessert, and were delighted with the outcome. The bride & groom-to-be were overjoyed with both the loveliness of the room (we had the second floor) and food.

Would definitely recommend this restaurant for any type gathering.

“Things Have Changed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Have enjoyed this restaurant for many years, but things have really changed. Went for a late lunch on a Saturday. Although we were seated immediately (and were the only diners in the room) and given menus, we finally had to get a waiter's attention to place our meal orders. Once our food arrived (portions were much smaller than in the past- all had the poblano chicken), we never had a wait staff person inquire if everything was okay or if we needed anything although several wait staff people were gathered around the cash register area talking/joking quite loudly with each other. On my order, I requested double steamed vegetables in lieu of the rice and vegetables, and was charged for the "substitution". Attention to detail by wait staff and value/servings needs to return to the quality it once was. Probably won't be driving from the north central side of San Antonio to dine again.

“Great Food and Atmosphere but a Bit Pricey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Great food and wonderful atmosphere. The food and drinks are good but a bit on the pricey side. They have a Sunday brunch that is really good.
