I'm surprised this place isn't rated higher in the restaurant list of San Antonio.
We were in San Antonio on business and found this place when we were watching Food Network and saw where Bobby Flay had done his throw-down here for Puffy Tacos.
We've had 'Puffy Tacos' at several places in San Antonio, including the 'Mercado' area and Henry's Puffy Tacos. The puffy tacos at the Mercado (Market Square) are delicious and the tacos at Los Barrios were just as good, if not better. Stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes and just a hint of onion. We tried both the shredded chicken and the ground beef. I liked them both, though I prefer the ground beef. Just a personal preference.
I had the No, 1 plate and substituted the crispy taco for the Puffy Taco. Yummy.
The enchiladas are the true Tex-Mex enchiladas, with the meat gravy and onions.
The beans were good and the rice was just OK.
We also had two margaritas: The House margarita and the 'Amorita'. Both were delicious and packed a good punch.
We will be coming back.
