“Romantic atmosphere and great service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013 via mobile

We ordered the Rigatoni alla Vodka (delicious), the spaghetti and meatballs (strange salty flavor we didn't care for although meatballs were good) and a veal shank special (also delicious). Prices were rather high for the food, although the atmosphere was quiet, formal, but not stiff. It was relaxing with the perfect amount of lighting -- the pianist on Saturday was a definite bonus. I recommend the place for a nice date based off the atomosphere (small rooms with tables and candlelit dining). Really cannot say anything about the value at $20-40/plate.

“Favorite Restaurant in San Antonio”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

We have been dining at Aldo's for many years. Located across from the Medical Center in a grove of trees it is easy to get to it has tons of atmosphere. Food is all prepared fresh and is consistently excellent. Wait staff are all professionals and at the top of their game. Prices are reasonable for the quality of service and food that you get. Excellent Bar and Wine Cellar. Either their side or lunch salad has a very light and tasty oil and vinegar dressing that is my favorite. Unlike many of the chain restaurants Aldo's is very quiet and intimate. We have never been disappointed with any meal at Aldo's. Equally good for lunch or dinner.

“Every visit has been a culinary masterpiece”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

When you seek tablecloths, great food, attentive unobtrusive service, live piano music at a volume low enough to allow conversation, make your reservation at Aldo's. With an appetizer, wine, two entrees and desert, Aldo's is not inexpensive. But, when one finds a restaurant that delivers fine dining, there is a reason to return again and again.
The trout was delectable, as was the chicken picata. Bread is routinely served regardless of one's order. Its quality, taste and texture equals the best in Europe. We had a calamari appetizer -simply great. The house cabernet-savignon wine is excellent; one need not move up to the more expensive choices.
I make this 5-star recommendation knowing fully well that I am making it tougher to get reservations in the future. But, Aldo's deserves it.

“A Little Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

The last time we were here (a few months ago), this place was good. This time, not so much.
They ran out of the specials early (reservations were for 6:30) - so we were stuck with the limited menu. It took a bit of time to change gears as to what we wanted, and the waiter was kind of annoying, acting like we were taking too much of his time trying to figure out what we wanted. For the entire evening, the waiter proved to be unimpressive, to be kind. There was a few of us at the table, and later, when we ordered a second bottle, he brought it out early, set empty wine glasses next to our un-emptied glasses and proceeded to pour another glass! We were now being rushed. The whole experience was disappointing.
