I live in a state where Tex Mex is the name of the game. I travel a lot so I consider myself somewhat of a Mexican Food expert. Tomatillo's is one restaurant that I always try to get too when in San Antonio. When I have business colleagues or relatives I know they will want to go to the River Walk and the Alamo. After perusing the sights, I talk the visitors into being patient and wait to eat away from the River Walk. You get good food on the River Walk, but I prefer to be away from the noise and hustle and bustle of that location. Once we arrive at Tomatillo's Restaurant, folks get a smile on their faces due to the nice atmosphere and what? Yes, the aroma coming from the kitchen. The food is great, my favorite is the Carne Assad a platter but you better be hungry. I love this restaurant and my friends love the drinks. I seem to always be the designated driver due to the fact that I am driving. I gotta work on that.
I tried to add a photo, but go to the website listed below and look at the table next to the booth on the left, yep, that is my favorite nesting location in Tomatillos. One more thing, their tortillas are to kill for. Little, no a lot of butter; (worry about the belly later), salsa and quarter fold and eat up. Oh man, salivation central. Now I am hungry and need to stop this before I have the late night snack. My recommendation, get there now, not later, now and enjoy a fantastic meal. I will return soon. Oh, by the way, I rated the bar scene a three, I very seldom drink, so what would I know about a bar scene.
