“Good price and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We were allowed to sit where we wanted and were promptly greeted.
The water we were served smelled strange and so did the restaurant.
The salad was boring and there aren't even baked potatoes on the menu
The steaks are made to order and were fine but not the best. Just alright

“Good steak!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

In town for a convention, a group of us wanted to have a steak dinner and this is where we ended up. The wait staff was friendly, the steaks were very good and cooked perfectly, the onion rings were huge and the atmosphere was noisy but pleasant. The raspberry pecan pie was amazing. Enjoyed our visit.

“A restaurant to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

If you only have time to visit one restaurant in San Antonio,I would highly recommend going to this one,if only for the atmosphere, and it's location. The food just melts in your mouth,as it doesn't matter what you eat,as all of their dishes are to die for,and if the main restaurant is full you can still eat outside in the open-air annex, and watch the world go by.

“Classic San Antonio”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The neon signs on the front windows say it all: "Steaks Whiskey". A former turn of the 20th century frame building with so much character including the huge pecan tree trunk inside. This is our go to place when we want good comfort food such as liver and onions, chicken fried steak, t-bone steak or seafood. We were recently introduced to the baked salmon and trout and found them to be wonderful. Service is very good, seating is crowded, bar service is excellent and the place is noisy, but still a joy to go. The Josephine Street Cafe also provides complementary bus shuttle to all Spurs home games. Highly recommended for food quality and excellent value.

“Steak night at Josephine's”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

We had high hopes for this funky little place next to the former Liberty Bar ( now Boehler's...look it up) for family steak night on our trip to San Antonio. We got a late start and arrive to a packed house around 8:30 and decided to wait and take in the funky atmosphere while we waited. The menu is posted on several boards around the room, so deciding what to order was easy...steaks! Now to the meat of the subject, the prices reflect the quality of the steaks. No Morton's meat available at the very reasonable prices, but it was a nice steak for the price. We also had tostado chips and queso, best described as Rotel cheese dip style, and very nice onion rings, since it was older sons birthday...he got a free raspberry pecan pie a la mode (hot pie meets ice cream is always good) and my wife and I shared a carrot cake which she said wasthe best ever. The only problem was a large filet ordered rare which came out over cooked and home cut fries (round cut) which were limp and needed about 3 more minutes in the fryer to get really crispy. Overall, this is a good place to go for a guys night out or after a game, but look elsewhere if you're looking for a special event meal...walk 30 more feet over to Boehler's.
