The Alamo Drafthouse at Stone Oak has several small screens, so it has a more cosy feel than the multiplex. As you might excpect from the name of the place, this cinema serves beer. There's a bar in the foyer area with a selection of at least 7 or 8 draft beers, plus bottles etc. You can buy your drinks there or wait until you get in to the theatre. The theatres are set up in steep stepped tiers so that you can sit and watch the movie with your food and drink on the bar in front of you. The tiers also enable the wait staff to come in and out of the movie, taking orders and bringing food without obstructing anybody's view. It's ingenious! The menu is quite large and varied, from pizzas, burgers, salads, brunch to milkshakes and cookies. It's got something for everyone. The green chili queso fries are my personal favourite! As well as your usual bar selection of drinks, wines etc...One can also buy beer by the glass or by the pitcher/growler. We adore the 512 Pecan Porter, and at approximately $24 (memory lapse) for a huge growler it's a great value option for a couple to share during a movie. You can reuse the growlers at Alamo Drafthouse, so once you've bought the container, then you can take beer home with you or bring it with you next time you watch a movie. The movies are also a great mix of recent new releases and old school revivals. They show all kinds of old stuff from the 80's and 90's with special theme nights. Also at this particular Alamo Drafthouse, during basketball season, they have live cinema screen streaming of the San Antonio Spurs games with free admission. The service is excellent here and the cinemas are very clean and comfortable. This place is just awesome! I wish every cinema was as cool as the Alamo Drafthouse at Stone Oak.
