My family has been going to La Fonda's since it opened in the lat 1950's. I have therefore compared every Mexican restaurant I have gone to in the decades since tasting my first cheese enchilada and chalupa compuesta as a child. Nothing is comparable to La Fonda's homemade tortillas and sauce. The nachos with,cheese and jalapeño slices always begins the meal. Fresh corn torillas are supplied in,a steamer that keeps the, hot. Add a little butter and salt, roll the fresh tortillas up like a pencil and enjoy. Dinner for me is always the #2 plate...cheese enchiladas and a chalupa compuesta when I am visiting family. In a city with,a thousand tex-mex restaurants, this is the real deal...and always a great choice. Just. Ask Tommy Lee Jones.
