“Old time Deli atmosphere & food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

My family ate here for dinner. Prices are very reasonable for downtown location. Portion size was very good as well. We all liked our meals except my son. His potato pancakes were not very flavorful. The food we liked best was schnitzel, brats with hot mustard and pea soup. The root beer was also very good.

“A must visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

Old time German deli in the heart of downtown steps from the river walk takes you back in time 100+ years. Visit for lunch or breakfast. Low prices and top quality equal great value. Look down at the hand laid floor and up at the original tin celing. Sit at the bar or in a booth or table. This is a great part of old SA.

“Don't miss this San Antonio Treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Of all the places in the world, I never imagined getting truly authentic German meal in Texas. So Schilo's is the place to go for a very fresh and affordable delight.

I chose San Antonio, which was our first visit to the city, for our 2nd honeymoon. Good choice! Staying at an old ‘downtown’ hotel on W. Market Street, we walked everywhere and found Schilo’s just ten minutes away. Very close to the 'Riverwalk'.

We were very impressed by the potato pancakes and sausage assortment which I heartily recommend. This is tops if you love pickles and want fresh breads with aromatic cheeses too. So if this is your first visit to San Antonio, please stop by for a great lunch and a wonderful time.

“German Deli in Texas!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Whenever I come to San Antonio, my first trip is to Schilo's!! An authentic German deli housed in a former Mercantile Exchange Building since 1917, this place is just awesome!! Their Reuben sandwich is famous, and deservedly so!! The pea soup is thick and tasty! My recommendation is the Kraut Dog,j just perfect with Sauerkraut on top of the bun, and warm German potato salad alongside. The wait staff is outstanding as well. If I would live in San Antonio, I would be a regular.

“A great place for breakfast in downtown San Antonio”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

If your hotel breakfast is not included or overpriced, make your way over to Schilo's. This place has been there for a very long time and has established quite a good reputation for good food and service. Our French toast breakfast with ham and eggs was very good and would be very interested in going back for other meals besides breakfast. To be a restaurant in a downtown location near the Riverwalk, the prices are quite reasonable. I look forward to trying some other menu items the next time I visit San Antonio.
