The food was fabulous! Delicious, served hot and melted in your mouth. The service was excellent!! Kathy was wonderful, she kept all of our glasses full and checked on our every need. We will be back with more friends and everyone should visit here at least once! The lunch special is the best deal in town!!

“Restaurant Off the Beaten Path”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2012

With a great wine list and some of the best pate and mezze platters you can have in this part of the world, presented by an authentic French owner, this restaurant is a well kept secret in San Antonio.

“always fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2012

WIe have enjoyed Crumpets for years , and have never been disappointed by the food or the service . The prices are very reasonable fpr the quality of the meal and the size of the portions. It is a beautiful place not to noisy and very much like some european restaurants that we have visited abroad ,the wine list very reasonably priced.

“Probably won't be back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2012 via mobile

The man who met us at the door was lack-luster. Can't say he was excited to see our money walk in the door. Shrimp app was ok. Salad was ok. Veg on plate was ok. Veal was ok. Champagne sauce on veal was pretty good. Lamb was excellent! $70 for two wonderful lamb chops is excessive! Service was ok. Overall, not impressed. I probably will look for mutton elswhere.

“A San Antonio* (*that isn't what it was...)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2012 via mobile

Crumpets used to be one of downtown Alamo Heights' crown jewels, years ago in its original location. They were known for their enormous bakery display, which featured amazing tortes and delectable cakes and petit fours and (sigh!) beautiful pastry swans. (The meals we're reliably good, sure, but you went for the desserts!)

Then-- they moved to the Harry Wurzbach location. They gained a lovely patio and a scenic creek, and floor-to-ceiling windows, but gone is the gorgeous bakery display with all the fabulous dessert options.

The service is still good, but the menu options are all-too-predictable, and anything but economical. (The last time I went for Sunday brunch, I had one of the brunch entrees, my kids split a burger; we each had a beverage and the kids split a dessert and the bill totaled more than $55 with tip... we've not gone back.)

They do offer live music (harpist, classic guitarist) sometimes, which is lovely. Crumpets is a nice place for an elegant-but-not-fussy-fancy meal on special occasions. But I still miss the Crumpets-that-was!
