We ate last night at Biga on the Banks. (My wife and two daughters, one 22 and one 10.) In our opinion, this restaurant is vastly over-rated. It may in fact be one of the five best in San Antonio, but all that proves is that the best in San Antonio is a far cry from the best in cities better known for fine dining such as Chicago, New York or Los Angeles. Save your money. You can get very good food in San Antonio for far less, and it would appear that you cannot get truly outstanding food in San Antonio, so why waste your money trying to do so.
This restaurant is perhaps best encapsulated by its Childrens Menu. Because we would have a ten-year old with us, we called in advance to confirm that they did in fact have a Childrens Menu. They said they did. What they didn't say was that on the Childrens Menu, chicken fingers and pbj sandwiches are $19. That's right, $19. In all my experience, I have never seen a Childrens Menu where things like chicken fingers are $19. Put simply, that says it all. This place isn't about fine cuisine (none is available). It isn't about a chef and owner who are in this because they want to provide great food. This is about profit and money. That approach permeates everything at and about the restaurant.
As for the items we ordered, the much-heralded Shiner Bock onion rings were mediocre at best. They were greasy and not especially favorable. You can get far better onion rings at Melvin's BBQ in Mt. Pleasant, SC and for a fraction of the price.
My wife's salad on the price fixe menu was bland and uninspiring. What you would expect at a mediocre steakhouse.
My lamb chops were good, but they surely were not worth $43. (More of that pesky focus on profits.)
Dessert was nothing special. The wine list was over-priced and uninspired, and they were "out" of all Texas beers because their beer supplier decided to not make any deliveries on Friday.
Service was exceedingly slow at first. We waited over 30 minutes to order our food. It appeared our waiter was preoccupied with another table when we first sat down. Once he focused, he was better and certainly friendly, but again, to say this is fine dining to confuse fine dining with spending a lot of money.
Atmosphere was nothing special. The room was quite loud in spite of reviews that suggest otherwise. And at these prices, you would expect table clothes, but not at this place. Table clothes cost money and eat in to profits. Can't have any of that.
You can get a better meal for less in many, many places around the country. This restaurant is one of the most over-priced and underwhelming restaurants we have ever experienced. It might be a decent place to go if you are spending someone else's money (indeed, it appeared even on a Saturday night that many of the tables were populated by groups on expense accounts). But if you are spending your own money, go elsewhere. There are many good places to eat in San Antonio, where you can get a very good meal for far less. Save up your money and get fine dining where it is actually available. This restaurant is not such a place.

Well we have to take the good and bad and apparently you found little to make you happy. We hate to hear that even though the service was good you found the restaurant lacking.

Sat night was a very busy night at Biga as you mentioned with a combination of locals, convention attendees and families. The noise level does usually reflect good business and makes for a good lively atmosphere, sorry to hear you did not feel that.
I appreciate you bringing the cost of a childs menu to our attention, the menu price was incorrect please check I believe the meal would have been rung up at $14 If not we are happy to refund the $5. Our childs menu is $14.00 and includes a meal(it can be a filet or shrimp, not just the options you mentioned), and does include a drink and dessert..
Sorry for the misprint.
Let us know if you are in San Antonio on a family trip again, we would like to do a better job for you.
