“Lovely But Expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

We stayed here for two nights over New Year's Eve. The hotel is beautiful and the the location is perfect. We had a balcony room (although our balcony chairs were lacking the cushions that all the others had) with a view down to the river which was special but I wouldn't pay for again. The bathroom is definitely the best feature of the room - huge, with a sunken jet tub, expansive shower and separate WC room (when we arrived there was a dirty bathmat on the floor but it was exchanged during the turndown service a few hours later without our drawing it to anyone's attention). The room itself was not particularly large. It was decorated very tastefully in neutral decor with impressively high ceilings.

The public spaces of the hotel are pretty but no one working in the hotel made any particular effort to be especially friendly or outgoing. The one exception was in the restaurant where the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating.

The breakfast included in our package was exceptional - just delicious, plentiful and made to order, whatever you wanted. Spectacular decor.

We looked at the rooftop pool and the spa (expensive) but didn't have the opportunity to use either.

I'm happy we stayed here for what it was but given the price and the lack of warmth and welcome (especially at the holidays) I wouldn't stay here again. However, if you're looking for somewhere exceptionally clean and reliable, this is a good place.

The rooms were incredible, location was incredible, and the staff was great, too! I ate in the Ostra Restaurant and the food was wonderful!! I would highly recommend going to this property. Note, although it used to be an Omni property, they are no longer connected and you do not receive credits toward your free night stay.

Room Tip: I wasn't fortunate to get a river view, but have heard they are incredible. Although, the stand...

My husband and I recently returned from a lovely visit to the Mokara hotel in San Antonio. We highly recommend this little gem on the riverfront as the rooms are beautifully appointed (we had a riverfront room) with a large bathroom and a balcony to enjoy the riverfront view. The room was impeccably clean, the sheets and towels luxurious, and the service from all personel quite fine. Combine this with the innovative food in their restaurant, Ostra, and the hotel is a winner. We definitely plan to stay here whenever we have a chance to visit San Antonio again!

Room Tip: A riverfront room is great if you want to experience a lovely view and balcony.

My husband and I splurged and had 2 nights and stayed at the Mokara. We hadn't stayed there since it had been the "Watermark". There wasn't one detail compromised. The level of service we received was bar-none. Hilario did everything he could to make our stay exactly what we wanted. Can't wait to go back. Well worth the splurge! My spa facial was one of the best ever.

Room Tip: Request a room that faces the riverwalk.

The rooms were wonderful! So quiet! The workout room was great. We enjoyed our stay here. You are able to walk out right onto the riverwalk so it was great access. There are not many places to potty dogs in downtown San Antonio, but we were able to make do. I would stay here again.

We stayed at the Mokara for a few nights and found it to be an exceptional accomodation. The staff was gracious and personable while the entire property was spotless and comfortable. The complementary water, jetted tub and other extras were very much appreciated.

Room Tip: Request a 'river' view if possible.

Our stay at the Mokara was one of the best experiences we have had at any hotel. The location was so convenient that we walked everywhere we wanted to go. The room was beautiful and the breakfast was delicious but the staff was what really set this hotel apart. The valet, front desk staff, concierge, room service staff, even the "turn down" person treated us like we were the most important customer there. Everyone seemed to really enjoy making our stay be the best experience it could possible be - and they did! We will stay at the Mokara again.

Room Tip: We did the breakfast package and you can have it in the restaurant or delivered to your room. Room s...
