“Tip Shake Down”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

The river ride is a must do type of thing while in San Antonio. We really did enjoy it. It now costs $8.25 for a ride that lasts about 30 minutes. We went at 10:30 in the morning, so the boat was not full...if it had been, we would have been touching knees with those across from us, as there is no space at all. We went on October 24th (yesterday) and had a driver named Doug. What we did not enjoy was his almost begging for a tip. If he had just mentioned at the end of the 30 minutes, as he did over the speaker, that tips were appreciated, that would have been fine. However, as my husband and I got off last, he said pointedly to my husband, "Sir, tips are appreciated, as we make minimum wage." We felt that his asking someone directly was way too much....sadly, we would have been glad to tip a good driver a buck or two for an outstanding job.....Doug's jokes were so corny and outdated..."Does anyone sing solo? If so, sing so low that we do not hea you." I recommend everyone doing the boat ride at least once...however, avoid Doug if possible.

“Great way to take in the Riverwalk!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

This tour is a great way to take in all of the Riverwalk and learn a bit about San Antonio at the same time. The guide pointed out La Villeta, an arts and crafts village that I wouldn't have discovered otherwise. The tour is very reasonably priced, and conveniently located. Highly recommend.

“A gem in the heart of the city.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

If I hadn't known it was there or to look for it, I might have missed it. In the middle of this somewhat ordinary city is a place out of a fairy book story. The River Walk with many restaurants, hotels and entertainment to choose from. And to give you a glimps into the cities history is the Rio River Cruises. Day or night, though night is really cool, you see and hear the history of this wonderful place. The boats can be picked up in 3 different spots I think and the captains have a lot of great information that they share with you as you float through the city. They also offer dinner cruises in the evenings. An attraction you won't want to miss!

“A great way to see the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

We enjoyed this opportunity to see the sites of San Antonio. Our guide had plenty of energy although his English was hard to understand and his jokes were lame. We were able to take advantage of the reduced rate due to our son's military service. The boats are loaded rather tight and it is impossible to turn to see what is behind since all seats face one or the other river side. Front facing seats would have been better. Over all it was 35 minutes well spent.

“Liked it so much, repeated it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

I actually took the RiverWalk Cruise two times. At night, it was very crowded and chaotic. I went back the next day during work hours and took the same tour a second time -- this time with a different operator at the helm. Both times it was pure pleasure, very informative. Highly recommend it as a down-time activity, when you need a break.
