I had no idea what to expect, but it was highly reviewed... so a week before our trip, I booked a table online for a party of 10 for a baby shower and hoped for the best.
Holy moly! Where to begin? They kindly placed us in a back room so we could screech, ooh and ahh as a large group of women inevitably will do. The waiters were all very helpful, patient, and attentive. Service was quick and efficient. And the food, oh Lord, the food...
Started with a bloody mary at the bar while we waited for the table to be set up. It was spicy.. jalapeno-ey yumminess, rich and perfect. Yeah it was $9 but worth every penny. We could not make any food decisions, so we each ordered tons of dishes and split (which the waiters had no problem with). My friend and I split the Eggs in Hell and the Blintzes. WOW. I'm drooling just thinking about it. The Eggs in Hell were baked so the yolk was soft but not runny, and covered in some type of tomato sauce that was very flavorful but not spicey. On the side was a creamy polenta that was perfection. The Blintzes were tasty, with a cheese in the center, a delicious sauce covering just enough that you still could use a little syrup without overpowering, and fresh strawberries. The dishes were reasonably priced for the portion size, I think around 10-13$ if I remember correctly.
When we arrived at 10:30am (their opening time), it was pretty dead with only a few tables full. By the time we left at noon, the place was jam packed and the line was out the door. There was patio seating as well as inside seating.
DEFINITELY would come back here. I'd love to try the tapas, but the brunch was fantastic!
