“The nicest hotel staff and smores, what more could you want?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2010

My husband, 2 year old and I stayed at this hotel after a long day at Sea Wrold and it was perfect. The staff at check in could not have been nicer. My little one was tired and cranky and he made her laugh when no one else could. The hotel has a Sea World theme which was an added treat. There are dolphin topiaries in the lobby and Shamu pictures on the elevator doors. The room was clean and comfortable, nothing out of this world but we had no complaints. They have a little outdoor play area with a slide which my daughter loved. They have 3 or 4 fire pits in the outdoor area where we roasted marshmellows and made smores. (they provide the sticks and marshmellows-- bring the chocolate and crackers yourself) They also had a projector out there playing a movie. We did not wach it so I am not sure what it was. Our hotel made for the perfect ending to a great day! We will stay again the next time we go to Sea World.

I had mixed feelings about this hotel when we first pulled up, especially since we had just stayed at a fabulous Riverwalk hotel, and I have stayed at the neighboring Hyatt before (which is huge, and very much like a resort). The outside is nice, but it doesn't really look like a resort. However, my opinions changed once we got inside.

The hotel, though smaller than a typical "resort," was quite nice. The staff was SUPER friendly, and there was a very welcoming atmosphere. They really try to go above and beyond for their guests (smores in the evenings, movie nights, coffee in the lobby in the mornings, etc.). The room was nice, but not overly luxurious - though the bed was SO comfortable. A HUGE perk was the free shuttle to Sea World.

We did utilize the pool(s), but didn't get the full experience of the juice bar. The water was pretty cold, but the pools were well-kept. There is a kids' pool, a small regular pool (that is pretty shallow) and a lap pool.

The location of the hotel is very convenient to major highways, and close to all kinds of shopping and restaurant options. We drove all over the place during our stay, and it was very easy to get back to the hotel. Parking is free self service, but you can get help with your bags if you need it.

You can find excellent rates for this hotel, and definitely get great value for what you spend! I would actually recommend this hotel for families more than I would for couples on a getaway. Of course, that is what they aim for, I'm sure, given their proximity to Sea World.

The business center is small, and the WiFi is not free (except in the lobby). The only irritation I had was that neither of us could receive or send e-mails from our mobile devices while in our rooms. I'm not sure if it's the signal or if the hotel blocks data service. I think it's the latter, because we could make calls from our cell phones, but couldn't get any data service.

Great location if you're visiting the San Antonio Seaworld. The staff are very helpful. Hotel itself is very clean. The shuttle bus that goes between the hotel & Seaworld is a big plus. We saved a bunch on parking, also the shuttle parks right in front of gate, so saves us from having to walk across the huge parking lot.

Check in was quick and effortless with an attentive front desk clerk. The room was nothing special, a bland room for a resort hotel but did have upgraded Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. Internet is 9.99/24 hrs, and free in the lobby. The kind front desk attendant who assisted me when I couldn't access the internet in the lobby gave me a code for free internet, which was great--and worked in the room. There's a lively bar in the lobby, which serves food. Behind the hotel is a beautiful garden area/walking trail, and outdoor pool. This is where the hotel really shines.

I didn't take advantage of any spa services as I was only there for a night.

The road the hotel is on is a bit rural, but only 5 minutes from a shopping mall area, Westover Plaza (?) that has a variety of low to mid range meal options, Chipotle, Chili's, Starbucks, Taco Bueno, etc. and suburban type shopping, including Petsmart.

The hotel is right beside a Hyatt Resort.

There's a shuttle back and forth to SeaWorld, which is somewhere nearby.

We stayed for 5 days. I can not sleep if you can hear your neighbors or people in the hallway slamming their doors. This did not happen at all. In the daytime they have 3 pools so there is one for every group of people( little people, kids and adults who need to work or just relax). It is really different to have fires to sit by at night in the garden while the kids watch a movie. They looked like they were real excited to be outside with their parents at night. The kids room is nice too for filling a few hours of board games or puzzles. The food is a bit pricey. I know we were in Tx. but $30 bucks for a ribeye steak.........comeon really? Our rooms were pretty clean, housekeeping could do a little better, but it is not terrible.

When we arrived we were immediately y assisted with our luggage and it was taken to our room as well. Check-in went smooth by forthcoming staff.

Due to my Diamond Hhonors status we were upgraded to a 2-room suite. It had a wet bar with fridge and microwave, a living room with sofa and chairs and a bedroom with good quality King bed. The bathroom was fantastic, spacious with a separate shower (with an enormous rain shower unit) and a whirlpool (seemed new). From our windows we had only view on roofs, but we didn’t mind at all, we were very pleased with our upgrade.

There is a relaxing pool area with 3 pools and comfortable sun beds with thick cushions. It can be crowded with many children playing around.

We had dinner in the café, they had only simple meals, but it was reasonable priced. The waitresses were very friendly. In the morning we had breakfast in the restaurant. They have a good breakfast buffet. When we were there we only got vouchers for a continental breakfast, so we had to pay extra for the buffet (this is the first Hilton where we had to pay!). I do hope that they have changed this policy for Diamond (or Gold) HHonors members
