“Across the freeway from Seaworld; great family atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2010

We stayed here when we went to Seaworld for the day! It was very nice. The restaurant was nice and the staff were very friendly. There was a DJ outside until 7pm and then there was a movie (Wonder Dog) projected onto the wall for all the watch. There are firepitts and you can buy Smores Kits. However, we actually received them free as we ate in the restaurant. This hotel is not near the river walk but we knew that and were ok about not staying on the river walk; although some people we spoke to were disappointed as they never realized the distance. I would certainly stay here again as my kids loved it and it was very nice.

This property is one of the best in San Antonio for business travelers as well as families. The quality of food in the restaurant is top notch for breakfast. The staff is more than willing to accomodate special request.

The location was about 2 miles from Sea World and the hotel provided a free shuttle service. The interstate was nearby and also provided easy access to many family chain restraunts. Ffree parking was also a plus at the property.

The physical facilities of the hotel were fine. We had no problems with our two rooms. The hotel staff was accomodating for the most part but one of our rooms was not ready at check in and the manager on duty seemed unconcerned. The other staff members were attentive and did a nice job.

WIFI was free in the lobby but spotty. A charge of $10 per day was necessary to utilize WIFI in your room but the service was truly hit and miss. Maybe we were in a bad coverage area but I would expect a strong signal when you are selling the service. The business office was also too small with two computers and a single printer.

The lobby area is nice as is the outside court yard area with multiple fire pits. The pool area contains two small pools and a kiddie pool. The two pools, an adult and a general pool, are much much too small for a resort that markets itself to families. On the positive side, the hotel also showed movies outside where kids could watch while making smores which was a nice touch.

The biggest "complaint" I have is that this is simply a slightly above average Hilton that sells itself as a resort without providing resort amentities. There are no recreation facilities other than the less than inspiring pool areas. The location is the hotel's best selling point and not its resort features. As such, I would caution anyone to recognize what this property entails before booking here though there is nothing which would make me worried about staying here..

We had 2 queen reserved from travelocity. When we got there, front desk staff informed us that the hotel was over booked and they can only give us single bed room. They also gave us complementary breakfast coupns. So i was OK at that point. It ended up being room 522. It was apprent that this room had not been used for a while as the remote and phone handset did not work. Took me four calls to teh front desk to figure that out. finally used speaker phone. There was a electric access panel open in the bathroom and made closing the bathroom door difficult. Called the front desk and maintance came and closed it, and it fell open again in 10 minutes. The shower and fucet were shaky as if they were not properly secured to wall. The sunspot breakfast was good, but there was a line for the single texas waffle maker. We were coming over from best westren sunset from downtown San Antonio and I never tought the Hilton would be so bad. At the end of the trip I was glad that I got the room for $35 using my travelocity points + got a nice free breakfast.
All in all, will not go there again in peak season as I have season pass to sea world.

My husband and I were very happy with our two night stay. Everyone was friendly from the front desk people, the staff, people in the hallway; it was a very pleasant experience. This hotel caters to families, but even though we are empty nesters, we felt just as welcome as anyone. We thought the hotel was very pretty, and our breakfast each morning was delicious. The man who makes omelets was charming to visit with. Make sure you get a room (with a balcony) that overlooks the courtyard. You can watch people toasting marshmallows in the fire pits, watching the movie shown on the wall, and enjoying the pool. Even though the hotel was 100% full, it didn't feel crowded. We would like to come back again in the future.

I very nearly cancelled our trip after reading reviews on here. But I'm glad we did not! We booked a 1 bedroom suite through hotel website to include breakfast. We dropped our bags off around noon (happily accepted and locked away with no problems), headed to Sea World, then checked in around 6pm. Only issue at check-in was our breakfast did not show to be included, but the employee happily corrected that upon seeing my printed confirmation email.
Room: We had a nice 1 bedroom king suite with a balcony overlooking the courtyard/pools. While the sitting area was a little narrow and master a little tight, the bathroom was very large with both a jacuzzi tub and a standalone "rain" shower. 3 yr old slept on the couch so we never saw the pullout. Plenty of room for a pack & play as well after rearranging some furniture. Carpets were clean enough in rooms but in hallways were very stained as someone mentioned. Could use a good cleaning.
Service: Bellhop - VERY quick and courteous coming & going. Restaurant - Slow for dinner but quick for breakfast. Always courteous.
Food: Better than expected. Dinner we had steak (was large & cooked just right), bbq quesadillas, kids had kids buffet (mac & cheese, corn dogs, veggies, etc.) A little pricey but to be expected at a hotel, and quality was good. Breakfast was VERY generous: Full buffet with everything from eggs to french toast, pancakes, lots of fresh fruit, etc.
Pools: Loved the zero entry beach pool for our little ones. All the pools were a little dirty and very cloudy -could have been cleaner. We went out mid morning (10am) and there was still beer cans, glasses, and trash from the night before that should have been cleaned up. Every night had a kids movie around 8pm on the wall by the firepits. Tons of familes/kids watching from the pool. Ice Age the first night and Antz the second. We were able to watch from our room balcony!!
Grounds: the firepits were fun and lots of tree/shade. Didn't use but had nice little playground and a basketball area as well.
So my biggest complaint - clean up the pools and pool area each day!!! Otherwise, a GREAT experience and we would definitely come back.
P.S. I would NOT recommend to couples looking for a quite, romantic get-away, or anyone who doesn't like to be around kids. It is ALL ABOUT FAMILIES here.

We went for Mother's Day. It was a joke. Two of our rooms were not available until about 5pm. The restaurant is horrible- food and service. The swimming pools are small and insignificant. We were told that they were playing a kids movie outside at 8pm, and after getting my daughter dressed up and ready we found out that it was an adult movie. I will never stay here again. The hotel staff acts like they opened a day before- dazed and confused.
